Grønland

A good game that feels a little confused about what it wants to be. Grønland is a little too nice, there's too much being kind to your neighbours and saving dogs for me to buy the sudden dark shifts in tone. There's some also weirdly placed meta stuff that really doesn't fit. Ultimately enjoyable but I feel like this just needed a bit more focus and tightening up screws.

Love the juxtaposition of naive, childish pixel art and dark, mature themes. Pokemon x The Terror. Grønland is a haunting short story told deftly.

One of my *favorite* games I've played recently. The gameplay is super smooth, the setting and music set the scene perfectly, and the narrative is one of the most interesting I've seen for a game in some time. I wish more people knew about this game; hats off to the devs!

An overall fairly good walking sim with some lite puzzle elements. The biggest strength of the game is in its writing and atmosphere, which works out wonderfully as you piece together the story. That said, the game's biggest flaw is that it's also just kind of tedious. A lot of stuff ends up being fetch quests, and exploration feels more like you're arbitrarily restricted by camera distance rather than proper exploring. The game's run time prevents that from being too much of an issue, but it does hamper what is otherwise a well paced story.

I loved the mystery behind the storytelling. It kept me engaged right up to the end. I wasn't expecting the ending to be as spooky as it was, so that was a pleasant surprise. As for the game mechanics, I felt the first objective's hint didn't seem to align accurately with the path you needed to take (trying to be a bit vague as not to spoil it for others). So, it was just a trial and error type situation, almost brute forcing it, which didn't give me that satisfaction of solving it. I kept going back and forth trying to determine if that hint truly was for that area due to the disconnect. Another issue was the secret entrance to the mountain. The little kid on the isle said it was located on the "cold side" of the mountain, so I assumed the entrance would be located where the snow was present. I wouldn't recommend leaving a hint like that if it's not accurate. Other than that, the rest of the objectives and side quests gave me no issues. Things made sense and they connected well. I quickly got those hits of dopamine each time I completed a side quest or main objective. I haven't gotten all endings yet, but I definitely will try. Gentle exploration amidst Arctic horror. This dark tale of painful memories is played out in a simple graphical style, but the soundtrack is wonderful and the writing is a delight. Looking forward to seeing what these devs do next!
