Greed: Black Border

lesser-known alien breed clone with 3 classes and their own skill trees. controls need getting used to but I grew up with crusader: no remorse and no regret with a different but also cumbersome method, so wasn't that hard. here you gotta hold lmb to move and wasd dodges in the desired direction. there's some tutorializing but the manual is also included, might want to skim it first. levels are huge and there are a lot of enemies and loot, so it will get tedious if you like to leave places cleared out before moving on. progress can be saved at checkpoints. manual anytime would've been better to avoid going back and forth. there's a laser trap room I had to try a billion times and a boss I had to try even more (the cyber spider thing), but as generic as it is, I enjoyed it overall and after the outro I was actually looking forward to the sequel that sadly never happened.

There is no hack'n'slash. There is click'n'wait, then dodge, then "wtf why are you running towards them?". This game wants you to slowly crawl through the level, slowly taking everyone out one by one. I thought maybe I picked the wrong guy, but it seems they're all the same. Shame, it looked a little bit promising, but I guess all those space themed games of the era were doomed.

Well, first, I did play the game in the past but couldn't remember why I never finished it. Since I had a bit of an itch for a loot ARPG, I thought, let's give it a try again. I must say the balancing is completely off. The enemy health increases faster than you can keep up, which makes fights get longer and longer if you don't find the best weapon for your level. On that, the enemies have overall too much health. Luckily for me, I found out you can reroll the merchant so you can have a good weapon for your level, but even with that, the kill time never feels faster; it feels like you just keep up the time. On that, if you aren't extremely lucky with loot drops, the time to kill for even small mobs will increase fast. Damage skills don't feel worth it because of the spongy HPs of the enemies. I only stayed with utility skills because of that. A bit nice was with door codes at the beginning, where you actually needed to think a bit to get the codes. With all that and the ending, it felt more like a proof of concept than a full game, or maybe, to put it better, the ending made it feel like you played an extremely long story prologue. I would even say the game feels unfinished.

Es malillo. Es un Diablo con pistolas y armas automáticas, lo cual es bastante original. Pero es extremadamente simple. Pocas habilidades, pocos stats, y el loot es muy simple. Aumentar de nivel no supone prácticamente diferencia alguna. Además, es extremadamente fácil. Los enemigos son esponjas de balas, pero no suponen ningún reto. Lo único bueno, que es corto, así que no llega a cansar (aunque los niveles finales son auténticos laberintos), y el precio, menos de 1 € en oferta.

It's classic example of cheap Double A games that you could buy for pennies in "bins" or "magazines". Especially for HnS boom. On the one hand it's cheap, simple and don't overstay it's welcome unlike other Diablo clones. On the other, items, biomes and enemies selection is underwhelming. But for biggest problem is that game is boring. About 8h of doing the same pew pew all the time with short break for the bosses. If it was short and intense i would recommend it, especially with other classes. But I don't recommend anyone to go thru that slog again.
