I've been back on forth on if I want to recommend this game or not. It's very difficult because it throws you to the mechanical forest sharks with hardly any instruction. The map is huge or at least feels like it and there are mazes (I think). There is a story, but the game doesn't tell you what it is. Since you don't know where to go, the permadeath is especially brutal. It took me three tries to get to the end of the game. That doesn't sound like much, but I played for over an hour. However, I like the aesthetic. I love the sound design of the monsters. There is tension even if it just becomes more frustrating than anything else. And the end is actually quite poetic. So, since it's free, there's really nothing to stop you from giving it a shot. It's obvious the developer has some skill and a story to tell and I want to encourage that. The game isn't great, but it's not bad. You just need to have the time to see it through.2 found this helpful
"HeadLight" is a rather poorly made first person horror jumpscare game. I don't think this one is an asset flip because the assets look terrible. It's short and comes across as more of a tech demo or a homework assignment than a professional attempt to make a game. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was s…2 found this helpful
Cool pixelated horror game, but I don't know where to go :steamsad:1 found this helpful
This game is SO well made. The textures are very nostalgic and although the bears are scary, I want to befriend them so bad. I feel like the game industry is very over saturated right now, and this game is a breath of fresh air! This game brings back memories of when developers actually put love and work into their projects instead of just create them for a cash grab. The game is original, and it feels like there is a deeper story here, and it leaves me wanting more. Great game! What a treat it is to be a free game, feels like it should be a 15$ game.
Be warned, this is a difficult game. You will get lost easily, and probably die a lot. Finding the objectives will be frustrating. But in the end, you will be treated to a fantastic ending! Just kidding, the ending was crap. It offers no context to what the plot is about. If you have 90 minutes you want to waste, by all means play this. Rating: 1/10
