"Hero's Journey" a rather garbage tier 2D retro platformer with a lot of rather suspicious looking assets in it... this looks and feels like it was just a matter of filling out a platformer blueprint in Unity with some "borrowed" 2D assets. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though …

Beatable in just a few minutes, this a short fun game with minimal mechanics. The game is clearly a first public release attempt for the developer. I would say with a good amount of work and some tweaking the game could be a bit of a short Indie darling. A few bugs here and there which will result in you needing to start the level over as you get stuck in the background of the map, but its a free game and I enjoyed the short 7 levels. Would be an amazing children's game if fleshed out. I let my kids give it a go and they had a blast.
