✦ AI summary

HeXpunk delivers satisfying arcade-style combat with fun abilities and solid multiplayer functionality in quick, punchy matches, earning praise for its polished art style and responsive gameplay mechanics. However, players consistently criticize the extremely limited content—only one map, two characters, and two enemy types—combined with a very short playtime of 1-2 hours before running out of things to do, along with technical issues like poor optimization, janky movement controls, and environmental collision bugs that make it feel unfinished.

HeXpunk was created by a group of game development students in the span of roughly 4 months. The game is free-to-play and has an online co-op feature. With that in mind, this is my review: A simple and fun game for picking up and spending a few minutes for a quick bout of avoiding enemies and demolishing waves of them with satisfying abilities. I had the pleasure of play testing the game once during early stages of development. The game has improved significantly since that point. If the goal of the game was to create a fun re-playable game with lots of potential, they have succeeded. The art style is superb, and considering the time-frame of development, having two unique abilities per character as well as two unique enemies is a nice showcase of repeatable game play as well as ignites my imagination of what additional features, mechanics, enemies, and abilities would be awesome for this game if there was more development time (and funding, ha-ha). Yes, there's some optimisation issues if your PC can't handle the specs, but overall, I'd say this is an excellent example of a polished vertical slice of a game that demonstrates the potential in idea and execution. Positive ⚡ HeXpunk offers fast and energetic third-person shooter action with a strong arcade feel. The abilities like lightning strikes, poison attacks, and enemy pulls make combat dynamic and satisfying, especially in short intense matches. 🎮 The quick round format keeps the experience punchy and fun, perfect for players who enjoy short action bursts without downtime. Negative 🗺️ The game currently features only one map and two playable characters, which limits variety. 🔁 While combat feels good, repetition can appear quickly due to the small amount of content. 🏆 Achievements & Playtime All achievements are obtainable ✅ ⏱️ Fast players can complete everything in about 1 hour, while a more relaxed approach usually takes up to 2 hours or more. Overall 🔥 HeXpunk succeeds as a short, arcade-style shooter with responsive combat and fun abilities. Its limited content holds it back from long-term depth, but for quick action sessions and easy completion, it delivers exactly what it aims for.

Okay so Hexpunk is an incredibly short game that most people are probably gonna play for the achievements. Me and my duo are one of them. Good things about the game: - Multiplayer works well, no issues whatsoever. - Game looks nice altho I did notice some ghosting on ultra graphics - The abilities are really fun! - There are many options such as invert Y axis which is rly cool (yes I need it) - You can disable menu music volume which many games don't have! - I like the UI The things that aren't that good about this game: - Too short - Feels clunky? - Feels unfinished somewhat? - The sound effects when you shoot are just strange but acceptable. - TOO SHORT. There's nothing to do after doing the reactor. I clicked "I recommend" because we squeezed some fun out of it but don't expect long gameplay!

The game is simple, nothing new. Graphically it reminds me a bit of Valorant. However, I can't say anything bad about it. Everything works properly, the 3rd person controls don't fit, but apart from that everything is fine. There are missing characters, other opponents, maps, modes. I'll wait.

cool ideas movement sucks very janky and unpolished only two characters the enviroment you can get stuck in and unable to move so thats great ummmmm this needs atleast 5 years of dev needs more playable characters the one game mode is only 2mins long and only 2 enemy types a tank and the grunts how this has a mostly positive is 1000000% bots or just the free claimers being sheep this needs sooo sooo soooo SOOO MUCH work! i like it but so much is broken ultra wide is broken and the aspect ratios are broken game boots cropped strangely i had to turn the resolution down big time the game runs poorly i was getting below 20fps in HD LOL very very poorly optimised and i have a beefy rigg. i like the concept alot and love rougelikes but this is missing so MUCH no upgrades no meta progression no unlocks besides some easy achievements its a HUGE shame hopefully they can flesh this out but i HIGHLY doubt it.
