About HYPERDRIVE
HYPERDRIVE is a fast paced space combat action game that combines the elements of roguelikes, infinite runners, and classic sci-fi games. The galaxy is recovering from its first intergalactic war, the War for Sol decimated the resources of all factions, and left the Federation crippled despite its victory. This created the ideal conditions for independents and opportunistic businesses to rise up and fill in the gaps in the supply chain....albeit not always legally.
- Make use of your HYPERDRIVE engine to traverse the hyperspace lanes to make deliveries
- Successes in your endeavors will reward you with new ship types
- Destroy or avoid obstacles increase your score with either method
- Avoid Federation detection, and if it comes to it, destroy enemy combatants
- Just don't make too much trouble, or the Federation might start taking you seriously

HYPERDRIVE feels ambitious: a space-combat, roguelike + infinite-runner hybrid where you deliver goods through hyperspace, dodge obstacles, fight enemies, and grow your ship. It reminds me of the old 8-Bit game AdAstra, and has a nice sci-fi vibe and appealing visuals although they are a little rough in lighting/shading terms (the obstacles tend to look a bit "flat" and it can be difficult to judge depth/distance when trying to avoid them). The idea of mixing deliveries, obstacles, and combat is solid and it gives players multiple things to think about instead of just dodging. It’s fast paced, so there are moments of real tension and thrills when you’re squeezed between obstructions or under fire. However, because it’s new, the content feels light. There’s not a lot of depth yet; after a few runs, things may start to feel repetitive. Some mechanics (like balancing deliveries vs combat) can be confusing at first and the game could use clearer onboarding or tutorial feedback. I found it impossible to start the game on my first attempt because ALL the spaceships were locked. Luckily I found a "reset data" button that cleared the game and allowed me to select a ship. The game's a blast! The mix of fast-paced dodging, varying obstacles and shooting keeps every run exciting, and the challenge ramps up naturally so it never feels stale. What really sets it apart for me is the presentation. The retro art style paired with the music creates this mesmerizing, almost hypnotic vibe that really pulls you in. It’s super easy to lose track of time and play for hours, but it also works perfectly if you just want to sneak in a quick 5-minute run. So far I’m loving it — addictive, stylish, and just plain fun1 found this helpful
