About I Had a Plan!

I HAD A PLAN!

You are a Wizard. A brilliant Wizard, with a brilliant plan. Unfortunately you also have team mates. As you make your way through dungeons and enchanted forests alike, you need to manage your team mates… and your frustration. I Had A Plan! is a Tactical Roguelite Semi-Autobattler, which takes place in a 3D world with Hex Grids, using 2D Characters.

GIVE COMMANDS!
You don’t fight with your Wizard directly, instead you can give your team orders, which they might follow. If they do listen, they follow your orders and get a small bonus to that action. If they do not however, your frustration grows. Your frustration meter is vital, once it fills up, there is only one answer: Fireball.

WATCH THEM FIGHT!
Don't feel like telling them what to do? Maybe they're smart enough to win by themselves! Or maybe they're not, and they'll burn, it's a win-win!

AND MUCH MORE!
- Find new Characters to Recruit!
- Equip your team with insane weapons!
- Use magical Charms to shape your run and break the game!
- Choose your path through mysterious Realms!
- Discoveries, Realm Quests and Metaprogression will keep you coming back!

Kinda dumb. "You also have teammates" No, no that's not true at all. You're not part of the team, you're more like a bystander shouting advice to them. Kind of like a stalker with a megaphone, you follow these fighters around and act bossy, sometimes they'll listen, sometimes they won't...after all, you're not actually in the party and their leade whom they might actually have some reason to listen to. You yourself don't actually participate in the fights. You're supposedly a great wizard...well, get on the battlefield and PARTICIPATE. Nope, that's not this game, this game is watch things happen and DON'T participate. Would be so much better if your wizardly greatness was also on the battle stage, then maybe I'd see this working. That's what I thought it was, but it isn't. Also, the camera is too close. Uncomfortably so. Let me be more zoomed out so I can see the battlefield better, since I'm not actually participating in the fights there's no reason to have everything be point blank in my face.

"I Had A Plan!" is an first person roguelike RPG with light deck building elements and a really interesting combat and quest systems. Regretfully, while the ideas are great, the final product is far from refined. Starting from the really unfriendly UT, going through the voice acting so bad that it's almost good, mentioning the not so small number of bugs and finishing with the boring level design (which, is actually kinda important for a first person game), "I Had a Plan!" is a game with great potential, that most probably will remain wasted. I LOVE THIS GAME. It's different and fun and witty and just plain wonderful. The progress system encourages me to want to play more, as do the unlockable characters. The realms are fun and the battles are always interesting, especially when you have cranky team mates! Honestly, this is such a refreshing game, I adore it.

Very fun game, I've been enjoying it a lot so far. *Warning, Spoilers... kinda?* Best thing to happen to me so far is while fighting Elara, have her plagiarize "Summon Water" from Phy. Next time its her turn, she then plagiarized "Summon Water" again and gave it to the summoned Water Elemental. This resulted in a combination of Water Elementals summoning Water Elementals until every tile was filled with enemy Water Elementals. Needless to say, I'd personally give this game a 10/10 for uniqueness alone. Can't wait to see where this game decides to go and what new things are added.

This might've been better without the whole first person aspect. It's just needlessly time consuming to move around like that. Finding collectibles isn't fun in this game, just tedious. The limited camera movement detracts from the "you're playing a tabletop game" vibe that the voiceover and combat seem designed to give off. The player is a mostly noncombatant leader, which would've felt better if you were supposed to be a mercenary commander instead of the party's wizard. No, the Fireball doesn't make up for it.
