About Jagged Alliance Flashback

✦ AI summary

Assemble a squad of quirky mercenaries and lead them through tactical turn-based combat to liberate a Caribbean island from a corrupt regime. Build your perfect team strategy—whether that's heavy firepower assaults or surgical sniper strikes—as you battle sector by sector for freedom and democracy.

Jagged Alliance is back – and it is all about the unique mix of turn based tactics, fierce battles, squad management and crazy mercenary personalities.

It is 1988 on the Caribbean island group of San Hermanos. A corrupt leader has the islands in his grasp ... yet a group of rebels fights for democratic values and freedom. However, once the head of the rebels is arrested, the insurgents quickly dissolve. Arriving on the island, the player’s mission is to help the rebellion before things take a turn for the worse.

Take control of your own band of mercenaries, lead them into battle and manage your resources wisely. Fight back for freedom, sector by sector, turn by turn. Like the original Jagged Alliance series, Jagged Alliance Flashback gives you the choice to use your preferred tactics and build your squad around it – rush in with heavy armed troops or take the high road of distance shots and sniping.

More features and content will be added on a regular basis, and together with your feedback and support we will shape this game to be the best Jagged Alliance game yet! Please feel free to give us your comments, your thoughts and your recommendations. We listen to every one of you.

The game provides less options than the one made in 1990s (JA2) while faithfully keeping a silly bug where a guy with highish accuracy repeatedly missing at point blank range. And adds a new one - where a character doesn't see anything outside a quite narrow frontal arc (and can't turn his/her head!). The authors probably think that their "puns" on weapons' names are hilarious - they aren't. They are just silly bordering on stupid. And while the story is possibly not that much worse than the one in JA2 (Again, the game made 30+ years ago!), it's also clearly not better. Don't know why the heck the authors wanted to make the main character a CIA agent in a game about mercenaries who are mainly in it for money - but not interested in knowing that either. %(

I played JA2 some ages ago and I loved it back then. This one is kinda meh: - Felt a little on the short side when it comes to actual content; artifically made longer by being attacked far too often; I once had to battle 2 armies in the same square coming from the one on the left before I could even move my 2nd team from the below square (same distance, no obstacles); - I didn't have bugs but it didn't feel balanced to me. I think over half of my playtime is reloading, because one of my mercs was getting killed while I was missing shots in a row with >70% chance; made worse because stealth is almost non-existant, you can't really do anything with the environement and positioning is kinda weird; - When setting certain actions on the world map, the time would start running automatically and this cost me many, many reloads as well, to make sure I stopped it fast so I could plan the next action as well; - Sadly, no character banter, which was my bigges expectation coming from JA2; Still, somewhat decent if you want something turn-based. Not sure if I should recommend it for nostalgia or not. It worked for me, but others might be put off having known how much better other titles i…
