A super fun retro-game take on a very retro-author's books. Jane Austen, equipped with a quill and a supply of tea, takes down angry frogs, hornets, and book characters to win back pages of her novels. Plays great on Steam Deck, and includes the ROM to play on other emulators like RetroPie.11 found this helpful
Jane Austen's 8-bit Adventure is a fantastic game and really brings back NES nostalgia in a new way. The levels are well built and take your through a literary journey of Jane Austin. There are some really challenging levels but the game overall is very balanced. If you are looking for a new NES game and love Jane Austin, this is the one for you.2 found this helpful
People really are out there still making NES games, and it feels very much like an old school NES game, for better and worse. It looks and sounds exactly like something that could've come out in the 80s, and the controls feel like it too. The biggest difference is just that it doesn't have a limited number of lives and force you to start the entire game over if you die. I was enjoying it for a bit, but I didn't finish it because I eventually got tired of falling in bottomless pits and having to start the level I was on over. I did enough of that on the actual NES for one lifetime. [strike]I swear I had one more thing to say about it, but my brain decided to spontaneously start playing the Cave Story title screen music on a loop instead for some reason.[/strike] Ok actually a month after I wrote this somewhere else I remembered that I was very happy the stairs work so much better than in the NES Castlevania games. Good job on the stairs 👍1 found this helpful
