I’ve known about this game since it launched, but I just wasn’t in the right mood to play it until now. Since I currently have very little free time and starting a massive title makes no sense, I decided to go through some short Indie games. I was craving a shooter, and Lady Umbrella offered exactly that, so I jumped right in. Honestly, it’s a great game. It reminded me of the Mafia series, Gears of War, Overwatch, and even Tomb Raider, as someone else already mentioned here. The visuals are pretty nice, successfully blending realism with its own unique art style. However, the game suffers from major game breaking bugs. Once you reach the second part of the game and collect all the upgrades, you completely lose the ability to customize your umbrella. If you think you can fix this by reloading a checkpoint or even restarting the game, I have bad news for you. The game reloads you back to the very first moment you enter the gallery, but with already loaded assets that block your path and prevent you from moving forward. I'm giving this game a positive review, but with some major caveats. Conceptually, the game is very good! I like the mechanics of it, I like playing as an Italian spy with a shield umbrella and tight red pants, and I was very amused by the myriad ways in which the umbrella is used as a gadget for both gameplay and story moments. The level design is solid, and gave me great opportunities to learn the mechanics and test them out. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish the game due to some serious bugs and flaws. In its current state, the game is not very well optimized (that may be more of an engine problem than a development problem) for people with mid or lower end graphics cards. There aren't a lot of available settings to change in the menu, so at the advice of Community members, I had to manually edit the GameUserSettings.ini file to change things like FPS and other graphics settings to make the game run better. Even with those changes though, the game repeatedly crashed during the end cutscene for Chapter 4, and would not let me start the next chapter. Also, some of the text and buttons did not render correctly, so I couldn't use the Upgrade stations or select some things from …

The second worst thing that I felt is the time I wasted on it. While it shows 30 minutes, I wasted less than that. Much of the time was spent in settings. Even 5 minutes on this game is a waste of time imo. It's a controller recommended game and there is no key binding settings page for keyb-mouse players. So, you have to guess which key does what, but it's close to the typical wasd set up. Also, it probably has motion blur and no, you can't turn it off. The settings changes work half the time and the other times, the settings changes don't save properly. Voice acting felt awful. Clearly, they are not professionals at voice acting.
