About Lands of Sorcery

Lands of Sorcery is a turn based RPG focused on combat, storytelling, sexy women, brutish barbarians and overall craziness.

A game inspired by classic sword and sorcery fantasy works, from the writings of Robert E. Howard to 1980's B-movies like Deathstalker II.

Travel to the continent of Akoll, where steel and magic are the law and command a ragtag team of elite fighters to seek your fortune!

Gameplay

Lands of Sorcery focuses on combat, equipment upgrades and character development. As you journey through the dangerous lands of Akoll, a cast of brave (or plain crazy) individuals with diverse skills will join you and serve as a traveling hub to improve your fighters.

Lands of Sorcery is one of those games I consider as an excellent quick-time amusement. The gameplay is easy to learn and also easy to master. The storytelling in this game is pretty good (despite its corny moments), and heavily resembles some of those power fantasy movies that were quite popular in the 80's, which is very rare to see these days. I don't know if there are bugs in the game, at least I didn't encounter any of them in the first campaign that I completed recently. Though there is one thing that could be improved - side quests. Overall they are good and entertaining, but the English translation could use some slight proofreading. Everything else in Lands of Sorcery is quite decent for such slender price.

Barely a thumbs up. 5/10 and only if 75%+ off. Very mediocre game but it's ok for maybe a single run before it becomes mind-numbingly boring. Pros: - Some abilities are kinda fun to use - Graphics are ok - Sorcerers are op and work best on front 2 lines Cons: - Severely unbalanced combat skills (do I do 3 damage or 30 damage if they both only cost a turn? Hm...) - Position in combat prevents/allows you to use attacks. Feels unnecessarily restrictive - Units don't get any talent points or anything when they level up. All you can do is pay to upgrade their existing skills/stats. Boring - Too easy overall - Because of the way upgrading works, you're best off focusing on upgrading a few skills. Therefore, combat tends to play out exactly the same every time as you use those upgraded skills - Boobie art is cringe

Have you played Age of Barbarians? Ever play it and thought gee, if only they would make a mobile like game that was a turn based point and click rpg? Well by Crom your wishes have been heard with Lands of Sorcery! It's got swords! It's got sorcery! It's got heavy metal! It's got plenty of scantily clad big mama milkers on display! And a script and cheesy dialogue lifted right out of a 80's swords and sorcery flick! But now the bad: Both chapters are way too short and the game play is ridiculously easy. On the second chapter of my latest play through that boss was dead after 2 shots. Now none of this would be a problem if for whatever reason this game costs $25 as of this review. Luckily though it goes on sale pretty frequently and got it cheap and it's a game I'll come back to often when I have an hour or so to burn and try some achievement hunting. So by Crom get this game and split some heads, burn some undead, and enjoy the mounds of bewbz!
Darkest Dungeon meats Late Night Skinimax
Very few games modeled on Red Hook's seminal opus match the intensity & thrill of Darkest Dungeon. Lands of Sorcery does just that. The combat hits like a truck. Great audio, nice animations & the sheer impact is undeniable. The game world is based on cheesy B movie Sword & sandal fare. Lotsa cheesecake on display & the humor is tongue & cheek. Conan would approve. I've racked up 20+ hours & I'm chasing down 3 more achievements. Give this game a chance if you've thrilled to Hyperboria & like hot chicks.

hot take: it's indie game, so keeping things repetetive for long time is going to hurt the game, due to lack of development resources. Gameplay is PITA even on easy, because of Very, VERY, V E R Y slow animations. Maybe there's depth for hardcore Turn-Based people, but for someone that wants to launch a game and progress a bit, it's underwhelming and after an hour of combat I get 1 15s cutscene with story.
