Lords Of The Fallen™ 2014

I bought the 2023 version, but I wanted to try the first game first, and I really liked it; I felt like a kid wanting to explore the whole map and collect every single item. I'm looking forward to playing the next two titles.

it's a good ole mess. i played the 2023 reboot and went backwards because i'd heard so much about this game! sure, 2023 didn't make me fawn over it (and hate it for various reasons) but hey, i thought the reviews and what i'd heard about this game were exaggerating and that there could be some fun in this game! and to the game's credit, the game opening 30 minutes aren't terrible. not amazing but they do lead you to think it'll be better than it actually is. but man are there a lot of issues here. where to begin? i guess enemies would be a good starting point. they're overall very annoying! you can kind of power through the initial half hour but from here on out it quickly ramps up and makes most enemies kind of real annoying to deal with. sure there's ways to deal with things like shield enemies, but they show up frequently in unfortunate scenarios and get tiresome real quick. archers will kind of pop you out of nowhere until you learn where they spawn so you avoid getting hit for free because they make zero noise while shooting. there might be easier ways to deal with the ghosts than i found but ♥♥♥♥ they were a pain in the ass. just a gallery of enemies that wasn't fun to deal …

very clunky UI. Dodging lag, parry lag.

No fun to be had here. Everything about this game punishes the player for installing it. Slow muddy combat that feels like the game resents you for pressing the button. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone.

one of the best Bold guy games out there. a must play if you are easily attracted to shiny ball heads.

Its ok compared to some worse souls like games, and i don't expect much of it since its over a decade old, but there's a lot of glaring issues with the combat. Everything feels so slow unless you main a rouge class, and even then its a slog trying to train your stats. there's a couple enemies after the second boss that are a pain in the rear to deal with. there is one you meet near a checkpoint outside the outer walls that attacks very fast and pretty much has an insta kill move, all the while carrying a massive shield so you can only attack after a parry. which would be fine of the parry window wasn't nearly impossible to find. i spent a good hour and a half trying to parry each of his moves to find out where the window was and it really seems like its nonexistent if you don't hit it frame perfect. there's also smaller shield guys that are more annoying than anything. its prob a skill issue on my part, but i just don't find that much enjoyment in enemies that don't have a clear tactic besides bum rushing you or hiding behind a shield with a pokey stick.
