[後半に日本語レビューあり] [h1] A nostalgic play feel inspired by retro anime-style arcade strip mahjong [/h1] [h3]First, a note at the beginning: most of the serious bugs in the mahjong part that existed around release have now been fixed, and aside from minor issues, it has reached a state where it can be played normally. [/h3] This is a character-focused mahjong adventure that reconstructs the classic “anime-style arcade mahjong” vibe as a VN-style experience. (It has been officially announced as a work that respects Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai II.) After progressing through VN sections with multiple routes, the story advances by winning mahjong matches. A mahjong tutorial is also provided for players who are unsure about the rules. In matches, pulling off flashy special moves that overturn the situation (a set of cheat-like skills) strongly affects both victory and point gains (which translate into funds for shop purchases). Mahjong Girl Kshity-Gurpa is a soulful, beautiful mess of a game. You will spend most of your ~30-hour playtime dealing with somewhat buggy Japanese Mahjong. If you like mahjong, this is no problem at all, since the enemy AI isn't very difficult (well, except when they get incredibly rare yakuman, or when they double riichi ippatsu tsumo). It's funny to see the various bugs that appear and learn to play around them. For instance, I found that calling Kan at specific times would turn my entire hand into copies of the same tile. I also had an opponent win with "Chombo" (i.e., penalty) as a yaku, which is pretty incredible to see in an automated mahjong game. Regarding strategy, the game is pretty bad at recognizing some complex tenpais, such as Russian tanki (i.e., shapes like 3445 or 34445), so it's better to go for normal shapes when you want to riichi. I think the tenpai validation is better after the recent update, though. The only bug that actually bothered me was a visual bug where the characters' models persisted on screen even when the characters weren't supposed to be present.
