The lack of the ability to modify the units it really annoying. MW5 you could go crazy and have fun this is soo stagnant.1 found this helpful
more linier then mercenaries, which I think is actually a benifit as you can get a sandbox game with mercs, but with clans you can just play through and enjoy a simpler story mode. Customization is different then mercs as well as you don't get omni slots like in mercs, but you get whole body sections you can swap out freely between each varient and make your own versions without being locked in to one weapon pattern.
I thought I enjoied Mechwarrior tremendously. Until I met a "story mode" I couldn't carry the brain dead AI of a team I have to micromanage to victory try after try. I might get to the other $50 of my investment someday if I spend the time to get good enough to beat story mode apparently. All the elements of the HUD could be actual functional lights on the mechs dashboard. I wish I could turn it off or adjust it so i can see through it not have to train my brain to look around it.
This game is very fun. I think more fun than the base game. I have a lot of issues with the inability of the voice actors to have been properly coached on pronunciation. Even a word like dragoon (druhgoon), is pronounced wrong. Kuritan, Capellan (in the base game)... There are a lot of text errors in the dialogue. The recording levels of the various dialogue parts are quite different in quality. It's very amateurish, and jarring. You can't tell me that proofreading, and a couple minutes of coaching would cost that much, that it's not possible to do. That being said, the game is, aside from not being able to change your controls in the introduction, is very good. As I said, very fun!
If you liked the Mechwarrior franchise you'll enjoy this. Big stoppy robots, massive weapons and a good storyline to boot.
