The story of MINDHACK is set in a world based on both fantasy and our modern society. Meet characters with unique appearances and backgrounds, like a sea urchin who also happens to be a gang leader, a fanatic of a cult religion who believes that he’s a cabinet, a monster from outer space, and even a fatal glitch plotting the end of the world…!?
Hack such evildoers, rewrite their minds, and reform them into benign citizens!
You are the Doctor, whose duty is to remove BUGs: destructive impulses that hide within people’s souls. Along with a supercomputer and a security force, you fight day and night at an institution created solely to deal with these BUGs!
Will you be able to defeat the catastrophic BUG, the “FATAL ERROR”, before it destroys the world…!?
Interact with a unique cast of characters!
During the adventure portion, you will meet and interact with various evildoers in a dystopian world. All of the characters have unique and tricky personalities. The main character’s hands are always displayed on the game screen, embellishing your conversations with vibrant animation.
Type to change evildoers for good!
During the hacking portion, you will type out code to unlock an evildoer’s memories and explore their past. As you read through their memories, you may find that people aren’t as they seem…? After you understand who they really are, a typing sequence will begin in order to rewrite their mind. Type out keywords connected to their souls and turn them into flowers, changing the evildoer into a harmless and benign person!

A lovely game with very charming visuals and a fun and interactive way of peering into a character's past/mindset. I think it genuinely made me better at typing + FORMAT makes me feel like a cutie patootie #recbeccastan I hope nothing bad happens to her in later chapters4 found this helpful
This game is too short for me as a VN enjoyer. It can be finished in under an hour, and while the world they built is actually really interesting, the pacing can feel off and confusing sometimes. The story itself is far from complete since it's still in early access; even so, I enjoyed it while it lasted. (I ended up feeling empty once it was over.) At its price point, I can’t really recommend it when there are other games on Steam offering more content for the same cost, like Dialtown or Slay the Princess. Especially since it’s been in early access for around 3 years, you expect a lot more content than an hour's worth of experience currently there. Still, I think anyone who likes weird or interesting worlds would enjoy it; just don’t expect a full or satisfying story right now. I had this game in my wishlist for a while and just recently played through it from a sudden post about it. And I have to say absolutely, this has become one of my favorite games yet. From the world building and the story itself, I have singlehandedly dragged a good chunk of my friend group into it and the characters. I absolutely adore the dystopian world Mindhack is set in and learning more and more of the characters involved. However! I will state that some information about the characters are a little confusing to understand without reading into the wiki or looking through spin offs [ nothing too bad, actually but especially can make it hard to understand a character within the game itself ]. [spoiler] I'd say in my opinion, Unid and Sino was the hardest to grasp as Unid's story contains misleading and contradicting testimonies without looking at the Helpline / Bloody Paella comics. As for Sino's, I found it much more confusing throughout my playthrough of who Sino was before being a BUG variant to where I had assumed Sino was a baby lol. [/spoiler] Although !!! This has been a very interesting experience so far. Can't wait to see where the story goes in the future.
