About Motherland
Don't leave the town, don't make a mistake.
Motherland (A sad fairytale for adults) is an indie-game that allows you to immerse in the atmosphere of a provincial town during the epidemic.
You are a tourist who came to Russia from another country. By the will of fate you find yourself in a provincial town. Now you can finally get to know the local traditions and culture. But when the time to return home came, the borders got closed...
Now you have to stay in a small rented apartment. Staying in a damp, poorly heated place for too long makes you ill. You decide to go outside to get some fresh air and buy medicine at the local pharmacy.

This game is literally cursed! ... but, I really had fun playing it The only thing you have to do is push levers to enter new areas Sounds easy? Yeah, it is, somehow If you'd had a map it would be so much easier but you have nothing! No map, no inventory, nothing. Just a flashlight that isn't even necessary And the world is huuuuuge The goal is to reach the hospital at the end to get your prescription for the pharmacy But, don't be too happy about it, you'll never get to the pharmacy cause the game abruptly ends And you get chased by ppl because you're not wearing a mask... it's set in the pandemic era (not sure what illness though). You can easily outrun them, they are veeeery slow Well, to be honest, I can understand some of the bad reviews Doesn't hold me back from enjoying it Not sure if I would recommend it, maybe for masochists like me I'll give it a 7,5/10, for that price I had a lot of fun11 found this helpful
God-awful game. Whoever made this ensured you will have the worst time imaginable playing it. The game has almost zero plot and story, with no direction on what to do or where to go, and a huge—and I mean HUGE—open map/world that is empty as hell, filled only with random people chasing you. You can run very slowly. There are just some random switches in the game. Nothing is explained here. I've been running around for an hour, accomplished almost nothing, and found nothing—just a waste of your time and mine. Absolutely 0/10. This game was probably made in 30 minutes and left and put it in the store.8 found this helpful
Motherland is a quiet, introspective first-person adventure that deliberately steps away from traditional game design in favor of mood, observation, and emotional atmosphere. Developed by Andreev Worlds and published by My Way Games, the title presents itself as a somber, adult-oriented fairy tale grounded in realism rather than fantasy. Set in a small provincial town during an epidemic, the game places players in the role of a stranded foreigner, cut off from familiar comforts and forced to navigate an unfamiliar society frozen in a state of anxious stillness. From the outset, it becomes clear that Motherland is less concerned with action or mechanical challenge and more focused on capturing the quiet weight of isolation, routine, and subdued human connection. The gameplay structure revolves primarily around exploration and interaction. Players move slowly through apartments, streets, shops, and public spaces, engaging with locals and responding to modest objectives tied to everyday survival. Tasks such as searching for medicine, speaking with residents, or simply finding one’s way through the town feel intentionally mundane, reinforcing the game’s commitment to realism. Unfortunately this game is completely broken. I am unable to interact with anything other than a door. The sound options do not work so eventually you will have music and a dozen people talking all at once and in Russian. There are english subtitles.1 found this helpful
Another game that starts with no explanation whatsoever. No one tells you who you are, what you need to do or what the objective is. You just wander around through soviet-style blocks with weird guys everywhere complaining about the virus.
Why does this game exist? It seems to serve no real purpose or goal, the audio is terrible, the controls are clunky, its an unoptimized pos.
