About Mystery Boxes

Help intrepid explorer Maya Robinson investigate a set of ancient cube-like artifacts buried deep in the jungle! When you send a 4-digit signal to the Mystery Box, it will transform it according to a set of secret rules.
  • Sending 1234 to the box might give you 8642.
  • Sending another number, like 2244, gives you a different result like 8844.
  • Through experimentation and deduction, you can figure out the rules: in this case, double each digit, then flip the number backwards.
Once you figure out the rules, use them to obtain the target. With the rules above, what input would produce 6424?Each rule creates a particular pattern of digits. Seems simple enough, right? But there's a catch: each box has multiple rules! The box takes the result of the first rule and applies a second rule to it. Can you find the patterns and use them to activate the boxes? As you progress, boxes will have more rules of increasing complexity.Maya is also happy to assist you as you solve the puzzles. She'll give you assistance with more challenging rules, give you ideas of possible solutions, and offer you tips and advice. If you get stumped, don't be afraid to ask her for a hint!As you explore and solve puzzles, you'll visit a fiery volcano, an abandoned crypt, a secret ice shrine, and more exciting locations!Uncover the secrets of the Mystery Boxes by unlocking and reading Maya's journal entries.Collect badges by solving puzzles quickly, in few moves, or without using hints.Complete 20 different challenges to unlock bonus cosmetic upgrades. There is so much to say about this game! It was low key the most fun we've had playing a game in a while. We love the art style and character design but most of all we LOOOOVE the unique approach to logic puzzling and the way it's presented. The interface is definitely part of the fun and it's designed really well. Figure out the rules and solve the mystery box! Definitely going to be playing more of this.

This game starts out as a fun and charming puzzle game that has an experience similar to a light brain teaser like Sudoku. HOWEVER! as you continue to play and more puzzle mechanics are introduced it eventually evolves to become a form of cruel and unusual punishment. The rules start to blend together and you can spend multiple hours on a single instance of procedurally generated puzzle. In one instance of playing this game with my friends over a discord call together, we sat there for multiple hours writing down our guesses as to the possible rules the mystery box we were practically starting to become delirious with how difficult it was. We started acting akin to those movie scenes where detectives have a bunch of post it notes with strings connected to each other on a wall trying to discover the smallest hint as to how the mystery box is functioning. Overall it is a great experience and was one of the best game nights I had with friends, and the satisfaction of completing one of the hardest levels is simply beyond compare. If you have $8 and a lot of time to spare I believe this a great game that is well worth the price. The only downside is that this is a game with a lar…

It's a chill puzzle game with cute characters and story. If you like math puzzles there's a lot of variety here. Great for playing with a kid as well! The music is chill as well, just a nice low key techno vibe.
