About Mythic Mire

Overview

Mythic Mire is an RPG-adventure that takes place in a liminal world between dreams and nightmares. Faeya must find out what happened to her fellow townsfolk and reach the end of The Tower to discover the mysteries of this universe. Along her way, she joins up with the digital Pixies, each one with a unique and distinct ability, including Mire and Billiards. Fight surreal monsters in turn-based combat, befriend NPCs, and find clues to continue forward.

Story

Faeya is enjoying a warm summer day gardening in her pastoral town... when something sinister happens to the other townsfolk, altering her reality forever! Along her way she finds Mye, Que, and Zed: 3 digital “Pixies” who become her companions, each with a unique power. Befriend the quirky denizens of this new dream-like world, such as the inhabitants of Hedgehog Island, space aliens, and more. Can Faeya and her Pixie pals figure out what happened to Faeya's town?

Features

  • JRPG structure, with turn-based battles and 4 party members to control.
  • Retro CGI FMV sequences like those from the PS1-era, used in cutscenes and spell animations.
  • Distinct and unique abilities for each party member, some being very unconventional. Master the power of Spells, Mire, Billiards, and Shine.
  • Eclectic soundtrack featuring moody atmospheres, quaint town music, metal, and more.
  • Hand-drawn pixel art to tickle your fancy.
  • Cute animal-people!
  • Surreal worlds with dream-like and nightmarish creatures... and eccentric NPC’s!

Good game, as always nice OST and always happy to see these two devs working on new projects

Fun short surreal old-style jrpg, I loved the vibes and the use of the retro CGI combined with the pixel art, the music is also excellent. The dungeon isn't very interesting since it's pretty repetitive and without real puzzles or exploration, but the combat system is good and the bosses are very fun. If I said that I fully understood what the main plot was about and what happened in the ending(s) I'd lie, but it ended up being a sorta Lynchian experience that you can enjoy even if wondering WTF was that about.

I'm so-so on dungeon crawlers. I can dig a good crawl if there's rougelike shenanigans at play, the combat is fun, or the story is compelling. Given the reviews, I knew the first of those wasn't going to be it. I gave this a shot well past the refund period hoping it would pick up. I give up. I can't. The story is compelling, but then every step or discovery along the way seems to be in a different direction. I feel like I'm not going to get the satisfaction I'm looking for, even as far in as I am. Combat is the reason I'm giving up on this. The combat is miserable. Got a group of enemies? The main person has the hit all move. Use that. Now they're dead. That's it. There's Mire but honestly, it doesn't really matter. Combat is mostly a matter if Casting Fist until HP, the most important stat, is 0. Mire seemed like an interesting concept that isn't fully used. There's hardly any variety to enemy encounters, which is disappointing. I don't like the way the enemies show on screen. What's the point of putting them in a hallway like I can skip past them if they move faster than me? It reminds me of when games give a choice box but all the options are the same. I never like that. Mythic Mire was a very cool, weird, short and min boggling experience! The music is absolutely fantastic and the gameplay was both refreshing and just the right amount of difficult for a turn-based RPG. BIG recommend to Resnijars, their style just oozes through their games ^^

Pretty cool little rpg! Was blown away by how pretty it was, and the combat nails that sweet spot of kinda simple but also engaging. Fun cast of characters, definitely gonna keep an eye on this developer
