Exciting graphical text adventure with emotional story, almost made me cry (but often laugh). Has different endings. Graphical assets are AI, but ok for a free game.

Do NOT play the 'text adventure game' inside this or you will be softlocked and need to restart. I was enjoying the story until I found this massive 'debug' error. There's no way to leave that so called 'game' and you're stuck without restarting. Do not waste your time on that portion of the so called 'story'.

NOX AETERNA: Veil of Darkness is a short story focused adventure that mixes vampires, mystery, friendship and a surprising amount of philosophical dialogue. I play as a teenage boy who gets pulled into a strange situation involving a little ancient vampire girl and a hidden society that has been living alongside humans. The game is mostly about talking to characters, making choices and slowly finding out what is actually going on. It is not a game I play for action or complicated mechanics. The story is the whole point, and I think the simple approach works reasonably well for something this short. What I like most is the amount of detail put into the vampire side of the story. The game does not just use vampires as an excuse for a few spooky scenes. There is an actual idea behind how their society works and how they manage to exist without being discovered by normal people. I get quite a lot of lore through conversations, and some of the dialogue can be surprisingly thoughtful. There is also plenty of humour mixed into the more serious parts, which stops the story from becoming too gloomy all the time.
