Players appreciate the game's ambitious horror premise and free price tag, with some finding the basic jumpscares and story concepts decent enough for a brief playthrough. However, the game is consistently criticized for poor optimization resulting in low framerates, blurry textures, confusing UI elements like unlabeled VHS tapes and missing volume controls, unclear level design that leaves players stuck without guidance, and an overall lack of polish that undermines the horror atmosphere and makes extended play frustrating.
Very short and to be honest not that spooky. Some textures are blurry pretty much. Visuals are ok but massive amount of filters strain eyes like cutting onion and optimization is very bad so expect low framerate. Sounds are ok but it lack some kind of soul to make it more enjoyable and refined. Not entirely bad, but also nothing to hold your grip to.
21 found this helpful
best part of the game was when the ghost was busting a move for no reason. the rest of it was just a clunky attempt at making a unity horror game2 found this helpful
This game run pretty bad had some stutters. I hated that the VSH tapes were not named. The DLC was free but that was garbage because it had a game breaking bug.
Not the best in terms of gameplay. There is no volume option in the settings so be prepared for everything to be extremely loud. Subtitles didnt work even though i had them turned on, and the inventory is a bit of a pain as nothing is labeled when youre trying to select a specific VHS tape to play. i had picked up a vhs tape at one point and couldnt even play it because i couldnt tell which one was the new one i needed to play. Another one of the VHS Tapes had some dude talking but he was muted or something as i couldnt hear anything he was saying. Finally, i gave up after a while when i gt to the point with the valves. i had no idea what i had to do. i could get the bridge and the two doors (to access the 3rd valve) open, but as far as opening the other big doors like the one that said "help" i couldnt get open. 2 of the 5 valves did nothing so i gave up. Framerate was also bad. Honestly as the game stands right now i wouldnt recommend this game. Needs some serious polishing and tweaks to the mechanics and menus.
An interesting horror game, but the bad graphics and controls makes it not enjoyable, even with lowest quality my fps is still often under 20. While is story is not bad, the playthrough is not designed well, a lot of times it is unclear what to do or where to go, which I get stuck in a place until I learned some walkthrough, with the bad graphics make this even worse. As a horror game, the game didn't actually include that much horror elements, some say it's not even scary, but for me the little jump scare and creepiness is totally enough for me. Overall this free game isn't that bad as some comments says, but the lack of optimization and poor graphics is the main failure of this game, a "can try, but not again anymore" game for me.
A decent little walkthrough with some basic jumpscares, good design, and an easy to understand plot. Looking forward to the next chapter. Rating: 7/10
