About Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Lead a US military squad through a fictional conflict on a remote island, switching between roles like infantryman, tank commander, and helicopter pilot as you face overwhelming Chinese forces. Tackle unscripted missions with tactical depth and authentic weaponry, balancing intense firefights with strategic decision-making across over 100 realistically modeled vehicles and weapons.
The game centers on a campaign narrative that gives the player a variety of roles in the allied forces ranging from a Marine Infantry, tank commander, Special Forces and helicopter captain. The game has an incredible realistic depiction of war with careful attention to the detail of the weapons, equipment and tactics of the armed forces. The action is varied from intense fire fights through to slower pace tactical decision making on how to best tackle the mission objectives.
- Most accessible, engaging and visceral sandbox shooter - Includes over 100 authentically modeled vehicles and weapons and players will be able to control multi-component vehicles including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, APCs, attack and utility helicopters
- Freedom of Play - Players will need to balance brute force with intelligent use of tactics with unscripted missions containing real objectives such as covering a friendly unit's retreat or conducting short-range recon patrols

Should have kept it for sale, typical worthless EA scumbag move to delist this masterpiece...13 found this helpful
"Dragon Rising" may be a bit more simplified than the original OPF (2001), but it has its own unique atmosphere that makes me come back to it from time to time. I would be glad if a remaster was released, with improved HD-textures, LODs and etc. д.1 found this helpful
Flawed, but fun, tactical fps. Not quite Call of Duty or Battlefield , but also not ARMA. Slots in as a nice middle ground and intro into the more realistic shooters. Its an enjoyable game, I have well over 500 hours in the XBox 360 version; and roughly another hundred on Steam. Added map editor is quite easy to use.
This game will make you laugh like no other. Don't follow orders, just do things. FAR KING hilarious!!!!!
such a classic
I understand making things slower paced for the sake of "realism", but just making a game feel like ♥♥♥♥ to play isn't realistic. The movement and driving feel terrible. The graphics are really bland and indicative of the era it was made in (in not a good way). The AI is terrible, and it feels like your team is a collection of braindead robots rather than squad mates. The guns can feel decent sometimes, but not always. Really the most enjoyable experience I had with this game was watching enemy ragdolls go flying up into the stratosphere when I killed them. Very realistic.
