This is the only game of Painkiller series which I have in my library. I was never a fan of this type of FPS and the only games of this genre I played were Doom and Doom Eternal. But I still decided to try Painkiller Overdose in 2026 because I remember Painkiller games from 2000s and I even saw their DVDs back then. And I was very surprised that this game actually runs well on my modern system. However, it's hard to actually enjoy playing it and the reason is not because it is very old. This game was dated already by the time of its release. Shooting enemies can be sometimes fun but the game just tried to hard to be a parody and rather looks more like a bad mash-up. The balance is also just bad. But at least there are cheats codes.

III.

I played this game back in the day, now finished again but man, how many times it had crashed, omg. I tried a few things to what others said in the forums to prevent the crashes but it still can crash anywhere. Sad it's not playable flawlessly, but still a great old school Painkiller experience.

Painkiller: Overdose is a standalone expansion developed by Mindware Studios and published by Prime Matter, built for players who miss the intensity and simplicity of classic first-person shooters. Rather than chasing modern cinematic storytelling or tactical combat systems, it embraces an older philosophy centered around movement, overwhelming firepower, and nonstop action. Originally evolving from a fan-made concept before becoming an official release, the game carries an unusual legacy within the Painkiller franchise while staying faithful to what made the series memorable in the first place. The story introduces Belial, a character trapped between two worlds as the offspring of an angel and a demon. Locked away for centuries by powers from both Heaven and Hell, Belial finally escapes imprisonment following the events of the original Painkiller and begins a brutal mission fueled by revenge. Narrative depth is not the game’s strongest focus, but the darker personal motivation gives players enough context to move from one violent battlefield to the next. The supernatural themes remain firmly intact, preserving the gothic horror atmosphere fans expect from the series. Gameplay re…

Looks like it could be a decent painkiller entry but it will not run and when it does it runs at 15 fps.
