I really wish I could like this game. It feels so close to being good, but I believe there is something at the core of this design that makes it impossible to feel truly good. It is such a good concept, but it is missing something, in addition to a somewhat poor execution. There are a bunch of little things that seem to be necessary for the balance to make it not immensely unsatisfying to play, but they also make the gameplay really annoying as opposed to fun. I don't think it's impossible for this game to become good, but the devs have tried a lot and it is still not there.3 found this helpful
Not very fun. The idea has some potential but the gameplay is pretty dull. The random events are frustrating at best. Attempting to build up a village means being raided by actual military units before I even have an axeman.1 found this helpful

I love this game. Yes its a bit rough around the edges, and needs som polish, but its a great game, and some good updates are on the way1 found this helpful
I've had a great time with Paper Kingdom so far! I've found that there are a variety of ways to build our your village to effectively provide enough resources and defenses, and I enjoyed that you can choose to be more passive or aggressive with your neighbors (At the cost of leveling resources more slowly if you choose to be more passive) I did run into an issue that prevented me from loading saved games, but the developer was extremely helpful. I was able to reach them by email for assistance, where they quickly responded and diligently worked on the issue over a few days to make sure everything was working properly. I sincerely appreciated the help and level of communication! Great to see developers that are that committed to maintaining their games and working out any bugs
There's a lot to like about this. The ideas are solid. Really enjoy the automation side of things too. But ultimately the UX is overly clunky, the whole UI could do with some major polish, and the fact it's only Ironman mode is frustrating when things can easily go wrong in the automation queue and it's easy to miss. With a bit more work it could be a lot better. And it seems the dev is working hard on it. So I will give it a thumbs up to counter the Mixed.
