About Pixel Ripped 1989

Pixel Ripped 1989 is a wacky multi-dimensional homage to the early days of gaming. The player embarks on a journey into the screen of a classic videogame and beyond. Set in the era of portable 8-bit consoles, this game-within- a-game follows the adventures of Dot, an in-game character who sees her world torn apart by the Cyblin Lord, a villain able to break through the video game screen and invade the real world. In the game, the player inhabits Nicola, a second-grade student who must help Dot save both realities from this menace by facing challenges in the retrogaming 2D world, all while distracting the cranky teacher and escaping from the furious headmaster in her own 3D world.

Pixel Ripped 1989 is a remarkably inventive virtual reality adventure that combines retro gaming nostalgia with modern VR immersion in a way few titles have managed to achieve. Developed by ARVORE and published by ARVORE Immersive Games Inc., the game takes players back to an era when handheld gaming devices, pixel graphics, and school-day distractions defined the childhood experiences of many players. Rather than simply recreating an old-school game, Pixel Ripped 1989 builds an entire adventure around the culture and excitement that surrounded gaming during the late 1980s, creating a heartfelt tribute to a generation of players while delivering a genuinely unique VR experience. The story centers on Nicola, a young student who becomes connected to Dot, a heroic character from a video game world threatened by an evil force known as the Cyblin Lord. What makes the narrative stand out is its dual-layered structure. Players are simultaneously controlling Dot within a retro-style handheld game while existing as Nicola in the real world. This creates a fascinating dynamic where success depends on paying attention to both realities at the same time. The storyline may appear simple on the…

Played this after 1995 and it absolutely holds up. The 8-bit handheld vibe is perfect, and the 'Game within a Game' concept is just as cool here as it is in the sequel It is a little bit older than the sequel in the controls outside the console, and if you use a Quest you need to change the mapping via Steam Input It's amazing to see how this series evolved. You deserve all the success, I suggest you to buy the series in bulk, not just the 1989. Even if i grew up with more titles that are similar in what is featured in this game, the 1995 (the sequel to 1989) was absolutely lovely, is a bit more refined and i think that it is more valutable, gg for the developers for the improvements! I still need to play 1979, but having played both 1989 and 1995 i've no doubts that il will be 🔥

What an abolute blast! This game is Wario Ware in VR with an actual story woven through a handheld game and the real world of the player character. I honestly can't count how many times I said "wow".. Checkout my other VR reviews here https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44403058
