I was excited to replay one of my favorite games from my childhood but hoo boy has it aged. The graphics, story, and parkour sequences really hold up, but the rest of it didn't. First of all, you have to do some of your own legwork to get the game to run, but steam guides will walk you through it. The main detriment is the combat. It's terrible. Like so much worse than I remember. It's tedious, repetitive, prone to stun-locks, camera jank, and nonsensical parry logic. And there's a lot of it. The enemies can teleport directly to you at any time, even when they've already begun an attack animation, so in a game predicated on parkour flow you're spending most if it surrounded by sand zombies so bad you can't even move out of the way, and if they land one hit on you you'll be stun locked until they kill you. Rewinding time won't save you, because they usually stun lock you longer than the rewind power can reverse. In the end there's only like three combat moves you actually need to do, so just spam those. The final boss was the most boring thing I could possibly imagine.
