Project Hailstorm is a short first-person narrative experience built around mystery, isolation, and the unsettling atmosphere of an Antarctic expedition. Developed and published by Imbrium, it takes players deep into the Antarctic Circle as part of a recovery operation investigating the remains of an expedition from years earlier. What initially appears to be a straightforward search quickly develops into something stranger as the player follows the trail left behind by the previous team and discovers evidence connected to a mysterious project. Rather than relying on complicated mechanics, the game focuses primarily on exploration, environmental storytelling, and cinematic presentation. One of the most important things to understand is its deliberately brief length. Project Hailstorm is a short horror adventure that I found surprisingly effective despite how little time it gives me. I play as part of a recovery team heading deep into the Antarctic to investigate what happened to an earlier expedition, and I liked how quickly the game establishes a feeling of isolation. The frozen environment, abandoned facilities and strange discoveries give the whole experience a strong sense of mystery from the beginning. The gameplay is mainly focused on exploration and investigation. I move through the Antarctic environment, enter underground areas and look for clues that can help me understand what happened. There is not a complicated collection of mechanics here, but I think that works in the game's favor because it keeps my attention on the environment and the story. I enjoyed searching rooms and examining the remains of the facility while trying to piece things together. The pacing is also something I appreciated. Project Hailstorm does not waste much time before starting to reveal that something is very wrong. The deeper I go, the more uncomfortable the atmosphere becomes, and I liked how the game slowly shifts from an ordinary recovery mission into…

This is short story with a a couple of simple puzzles. It has a nice atmosphere and so it would be nice if this becomes a full game.

Project Hailstorm is a sampling for what I hope is to come. The game sets a spooky, atmospheric, tone that will keep the player on edge a little bit. Sadly, after 20 minutes of gameplay, it's all over. If you're looking for a quick game to play with quality work put into it, then check out Project Hailstorm.
