Questboard

In my Last Review we made a Journey to the Times of the C64. So, dear Readers, let´s stay there. The Golden Age of C64 and AMIGA 500 was also a golden Age of Text RPG´s. Remembering HITCHHIKERSS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY and not to forget the legendary ZORK Series. Read Games like a Book and make decissions. Guided by few Pictures find your own Adventure. And that brings us here. So welcome to QUESTBOARD! Well, QUESTBOARD is a homage to these good old Retro Games, but it is more. It is a Mix of these Retro Text Adventures and good old Board Games like HERO QUEST or AD&D. In Questboard you have to roll the Dice. The Dice is deciding your Fate. And yes, it is truly depending on Luck. Like in real Board Games. If you role a 1 then you role a 1 and have to live with the Consequences. Lovely little clickthrough game about vignettes in adventuring. Remarkbly simple, extremely reliant on RNG. If you're OK with your games being little more than simple-choice short stories with incremental improvements, have at it. The decisions are simple, there is a small amount of risk/reward. Failure isn't all that punishing, and resetting your stats is just a bedrest away. In my opinion it's a good one to consider when on a deep discount but I do not recommend at full price; it's just too light for the ask. Granted I have not played for too long, but I have advanced my character two weeks and up to around level 10. There's a lot of reused sprites and scenes - which is fine - but for full price and with this level of fidelity I'd expect more. But I won't kick it any further, because the truth is I've enjoyed coming back and having a little three-minute adventure every now and then. I think Questboard is a delightful little experience, provided you know exactly what you're going to get - and you're already inclined to like it. Questboard is a pretty simple yet fun game about rolling dice and taking on various quests to fight a range of monsters to get gold. The premise and gameplay mechanic is pretty simple, but what's fun is seeing all of the 200 premade quests and engaging with each quest to see how the story in each quest enfolds. That being said Questboard is not worth $12.99, but is easily worth buying if it's heavily reduced on a steam sale for a few $. That being said I had a lot of fun with Questboard. However you can get through all of the 200 quests in a very short amount of time. Although the minigames are worth playing if your into card games with dice, fishing with dice or even a gauntlet challenge of all the monsters you have faced so far with dice. Overall, I give Questboard a 6/10 and would totally recommend this game if your a fan of short adventure style stories while also using dice to navigate the story. Keep in mind you can also create your own "quests" to use in quest board which is also cool but I did not engage in that but feels like you can keep the game going even after you finished all of the 200 quests.

A text based RPG and not very complex, but I still enjoyed it a lot if you're in search for a distraction with lovely characters, less punishment and a few little bar games. I'd recommend getting it on sale because as I said, it's simple and quick to play through, but I hope the developers will create something more complex in the future and my appetite for the genre is back.

This game doesn't just let you pet the dog. The dog moves in with you if you pet it enough. All the other aspects of the game are fun as well.

I've enjoyed it so far! On sale id say its worth buying :) the actual content itself feels a little bare bones sometimes, maybe too simple, but the creators absolutely nailed the aesthetics, music, and overall feel of the game for sure, really charming. Playing it on the AYN THOR (arm based proton compatibility layer through gamenative) and its working great!
