On paper this game should be an underrated gem with many interesting and cool ideas and features but in execution the game just mishandles nearly everything. Despite obvious comparisons to Civ, the devs were clearly inspired by Amplitudes' Endless Legends with various systems such as districts, FIDS, map regions, and unit upgrades & progression lifted directly from EL; the strength of this game rests largely in how closely it emulates Endless Legend' systems that it masks the rest of the game's incoherent design. The biggest problem is few of your choices fail to feel meaningful. Putting down districts increases yields but none of it seems weighty. Upgrading units with new tech should feel good but when putting them into action they feel as weak as your starter units. Diplomacy and minor faction interactions don't feel significant and even when you think you're engaging in some diplomacy it's so rare because the currency needed for diplomacy is always in short supply. All of this is exacerbated when you consider the AI plays a completely different game than you do. They are seemingly able to expand, woo minor factions, terraform, engage in trade, acquire resources without…24 found this helpful
Had promise, but in the end failed to deliver. Great concept in general, different take on 4X. Still needs polish, but no update in a long time, most likely abandoned, negative review.12 found this helpful

spent basically half an hour shuffling a settler across a civ 6 map looking for a place to settle that wasn't already occupied or entirely mountains/ocean. Which is only made worse by the environmental restrictions for a settlement which changes based on what emissary you have. Frankly just don't really have the time of day to really care to check out the rest of this game even if theoretically it should be the best thing ever since I really enjoy alpha centauri, I enjoyed beyond earth. I specifically loved them for the ways the world would change on a dime and new variables would be introduced. This SHOULD be my game, but starting the player with no city, surrounded by a million settlements which force the player to be unable to settle is a pretty big issue. Sure I aligned myself with one of them, but that doesn't mean you can actually do things with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ settlement, it'll just sortof sit there like the city-states in civ V that has a better diplomacy system at least thank god.2 found this helpful

Developed and published by HeroCraft PC, Revival: Recolonization delivers a fresh interpretation of the classic 4X strategy formula by transporting players to a far-future Earth where humanity is attempting to rebuild after a civilization-ending catastrophe. Rather than presenting a straightforward empire-building experience, the game introduces a world that has been permanently altered by disaster, creating a setting where survival, expansion, and adaptation are equally important. Players take control of one of several unique factions determined to reclaim the planet while uncovering the mysteries surrounding its downfall and confronting a powerful force that threatens humanity's second chance. The result is a strategy game that combines familiar mechanics with a distinctive science-fiction identity and a strong emphasis on unpredictability. The foundation of the gameplay revolves around exploring unknown territory, founding settlements, researching new technologies, managing resources, and expanding influence across a hostile world. What distinguishes Revival from many other strategy titles is its commitment to keeping every campaign dynamic through an evolving ruleset. Environm…
