A fun game that combines the staple farm mechanics with rpg mechanics I like the switch to 3D Its really fun and I would recommend this for people that haven't tried any rune factory game yet

My only big complaint about this game is that the PC controls were so dreadful that I just said screw it and played using a controller even though I mostly only use mouse + keyboard. Other than that, great game.

There’s honestly not too much to say here. If you want that cute little village-life feeling where you farm, cook, craft, raise monsters, build relationships with the characters and eventually choose someone to fall in love with, then Rune Factory 5 is a fun game. Is it the best Rune Factory? No, but I still somehow spent quite a few hours on it. The main thing I didn’t love was how slow relationship progression could feel. I enjoy getting to know the characters and slowly choosing who I want to romance, but here it sometimes felt a bit too slow for me. Also, I’m just going to say it: check online for the easy money trick. There’s a specific method for making a lot of gold quite early, and honestly it made things much more fun for me. The character designs are beautiful, as I usually expect from Rune Factory, and I enjoyed the whole colorful anime look of the cast. The game itself definitely feels outdated in places though, both graphically and in the way some of the gameplay feels. But honestly, if that kind of thing doesn’t bother you, then it doesn’t bother you. You’re also probably not playing this for some mind-blowing story. The story is okay, but for me the real appeal…

It's funny looking back that this was my first RF game and what pushed me to try out the rest of the games. I'd say I have a better appreciation for it now that I've played the older games and have replayed 5. If you're a fan of Rune Factory, plain and simple you would enjoy this game regardless of the brevity of the main story. But that's also where the weakness of the game comes from - it's a fun RF game but nothing really stood out to me as it combined a lot of what made the previous games good but didn't really innovate anything else. For example, Tides of Destiny had Kaiju battles which was cool as heck. Gameplay: [list] [*]Same great farming with a mix of QoL improvements and some odd changes [*]They really slowed down farm tool charging time (Magic Ring FTW) [*]Lumber/Material is still tedious to get and even buying them is annoying to do [*]Combat and strength progression has always been weird in RF games so sometimes when you get lucky and find a great weapon drop you can suddenly breeze through dungeons [*]Item drop rate is terrible as usual but it is pretty amusing when it feels like you have a higher chance of getting a random Boss drop from chests instead o…
