The world and art style are charming, but I couldn't get invested in the rest. The humor didn't land for me, many puzzles relied on frustrating logic, and the protagonist was difficult to like. It has its fans, but I found it more irritating than entertaining.6 found this helpful

I just finished the entire Monkey Island series, which had excellent humor and ran flawlessly, so I decided to give Deponia a try. Unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing from the very beginning. The first thing that stood out was the audio quality. My ears were practically bleeding from how badly compressed everything sounds. It feels like the voice acting and sound effects were encoded at an absurdly low bitrate. Then there are the visual glitches. Characters randomly disappear from the screen for no apparent reason, completely breaking immersion. The worst part, however, is the game-breaking bugs. I'm writing this review because I'm currently stuck at the pigeon puzzle. A quick search shows that this bug has been reported by many players for years and completely blocks progression. The "solutions" are either restarting the entire game and hoping the bug doesn't happen again, or searching the internet for a save file to download. No, thanks. I'm playing on a Steam Deck, and I'm not interested in messing around with save files just to continue a game I bought on Steam. It's ridiculous that the Complete Edition is being sold in this state. Gamebreaking bug during the Pigeon Hole puzzle... I had so much fun but had to encounter this mf bug. Can't even skip the puzzle so the game is hardstuck completely... I'm so sad and disappointed.1 found this helpful
Gamebreaking bug is preventing me from progress further than chapter one. going to try and refund.
Well its a classic point and click game with a classic style. Fun and entertaining but lots of bugs to push through enjoyed it even though it had loads of flaws and some proper moon logic for puzzles. I pushed through bugs and ended up enjoying rather a lot. Last game is strongest of the 3. Fun Sunday cartoon vibe with unexpected darkness.
