Sepan and the Seven Flasks is one of those rare indie projects that feels completely unconcerned with traditional genre expectations, instead embracing chaos, experimentation, internet humor, psychological mystery, and arcade-style creativity with absolute confidence. Developed and published by PicMid, the game constantly shifts between tones and gameplay styles in ways that should theoretically feel incoherent, yet somehow manage to create an experience that is strangely immersive and memorable. At one moment, the game behaves like a goofy retro comedy packed with absurd dialogue and bizarre mini-games. Moments later, it suddenly transforms into something unsettling and psychologically uncomfortable, filled with eerie environments, mysterious entities, and lingering existential questions that quietly distort the player’s understanding of the world. The result is a surreal indie adventure that often feels less like a conventional game and more like wandering through a strange internet dream where comedy, horror, nostalgia, and emotional unease all exist simultaneously. A fun little indie, well worth the small investment of money and larger investment of time. I keep seeing both English and French text, so a knowledge of both might help. One suggestion to the developer is to slow down the rate at which the credit screens go by, as I had to take screenshots in order to see everyone and go to the listed web sites.
