smartPLANT

smartPLANT 2025 is a free first person story game that mixes a mystery with botany and artificial intelligence. I play as Dr. Teagan Wixx, a botany professor who gets involved with Emmer Technologies and its UtopiaBot system, which is being used to control how crops grow around the world. Things become more personal when Teagan loses her job on the same day her friend goes missing, so I have to explore the world around her and work out what is actually happening. I like the basic setup because it gives the game a clear mystery without needing to turn it into a full action game. The strongest part for me is the subject matter. The game takes ideas about artificial intelligence and plants and actually builds its story around them rather than just using AI as a science fiction decoration. I am encouraged to learn about botany while following the mystery, and some of the ideas about plant intelligence are genuinely interesting. I like games that can teach me something without feeling like I am sitting through a lesson, and smartPLANT does a decent job of mixing factual information with its fictional story. Okay, I played about an hour of this game. A free copy was given to me by Keymailer. OK I played up until the first “VR session”. Went to go to the next one and I could not. It was very informative… lots of plants information… (trying to think of something nice to say). It wasn’t fun. I feel horrible saying that, but it wasn’t… I don’t wanna post what I have recorded of it because… it’s not fun. I’m sorry, it’s just not If I post what I have recorded of it, I am afraid of what my subs are going to think… they’re gonna think 1 of 2 things… 1 the game sucked balls or 2 I sucked balls. I’m going to try to put something together that doesn’t look like ♥♥♥♥♥ or make the game look like ♥♥♥♥♥ and hopefully… …yeah I just don’t know. I don’t know yeah… I don’t know.
