About Space Captain McCallery - Episode 4: The Turquoise Temple

The Turquoise Temple

In the lawless reaches of the galaxy known as the Renegade Sector

Space Pirate Captain McCallery has gotten restless. He has sent his crew on ahead of him to Zarlek Spaceport to recruit new crew-members, and taken a shuttle down to a planet that piqued his interest.

A Planet of Turquoise
! Turquoise Cliffs jut out of the ground. Boulders of turquoise bigger than a person strew the landscape. Pillars of turquoise crest lava-flows. And at the center of it: The Turquoise Temple. An ancient, long-abandoned monument built of pure turquoise. The people who built the temple are long-gone, leaving behind only their robotic sentinels to guard the ancient edifice. Who could have built such a structure and what was its purpose? These questions call to Captain McCallery, and he cannot resist the call to discover the secrets of The Turquoise Temple!

In this 3D Action-Adventure game, McCallery will have to explore a dangerous world, battle killer robots, survive off the land, and discover the mysterious past of a strange planet.

This episode of Space Captain McCallery is a self-contained adventure and can be played without having played the previous episodes.

Explore a Strange Alien World

Playing as Captain McCallery, you will travel through turquoise cliffs, thick forests and lakes of lava. Pay attention to your surroundings, as danger lurks behind every corner. This world is full of hidden paths and secrets to reward exploration.

Consume Alien Plants

The Captain needs to eat to survive! Be on the lookout for plants which you can consume to regain your energy. Food items can have a variety of other effects, ranging from restoring health to hallucinations. Explore your environment to find rare and beneficial items!

Battle The Robot Sentinels

The game features fast-paced lock-on combat. Dash around your foes, dodging their attacks. Use your trusty laser gun to blast away at your enemies, or conserve your ammo by punching and throwing rocks. You'll be up against a variety of alien beings, including multiple boss fights.

Survival Mode

For those who want an extra challenge, there's Survival Mode. Survival Mode removes checkpoints from the game, and also removes enemy and item respawning. This mode requires caution and careful item-use in order to make it through.

ENG: Another small episode of the polygonal adventures of Captain McCallery, you are always left wanting a little more, being this the 4th chapter, I recommend as always to play them in order, the first one is free to play. Fun, but much more difficult, episode than the past 3. Robot Dogs will drive you mad. Definitely, for each episode, read what all the controls do. Z targeting is pretty necessary and I always forget it exists every episode. Bosses are a tad easier than previous episodes, but the levels themselves are challenging enough. Short entertaining game like the others. Does require some patience to learn the platforming style. I enjoy the retro aesthetic and atmosphere a lot.

Reviewing the series as a whole, it´s nice but the pricing makes EA seem generous. Each "game" has about an hour of content and adds nothing significant to the gameplay. It should be a single 10-15 dollar early access game that gets updated over time with more areas. Anyways, the game lacks an actual map, most of the game is spent getting lost in relatively small areas that look all very samey. Combat has a nice base, but that´s all, it never expands it with newer abilities or weapons. I like the aesthetic and the worldbuilding, but the lack of improvement over 4 entries is disappointing
