"THE ドア" is bad, real bad. It's a lazy non-game, barely a walking sim, where all you do is walk around and sometimes open doors. It's not clear who this is for, but certainly it has no value for PC gamers on Steam. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. Press F to open the door (thanks Japanese reviewers!) "Wait!" "You can't escape~" "Where are you going?" "Help..." "Who are you?" "I am you. You are me. No, that's wrong. Who are you?" The seemingly contradicting messages and slight changes to the environment work to build a nice short narrative. The ending is up to interpretation, though it feels pretty clear by the end what happened, so I think that counts plenty as an ending. Something about the way the ending leaves you there rather than ending the game feels appropriate for how you got there. Glad I gave the game a spin!
