About The Crown of Leaves

✦ AI summary

Explore a richly atmospheric world of mysticism and riddles as Roui, a cynical jeweler caught between science and sorcery, unravels the mischievous schemes of the Mad Rook spirit. This hybrid visual novel and point-and-click adventure blends animated storytelling with puzzle-solving across multiple branching paths, backed by an original soundtrack and intricate world-building featuring a cast of anthropomorphic creatures and supernatural secrets.

The Crown of Leaves is a hybrid of non-kinetic visual novel and point-n-click adventure, that will tell you a story about mysticism, riddles, constellations, anthro, beasts and ghosts!
Three chapters are planned for release; The first chapter has already been released - and it's here! The rest of the chapters will be released as the paid DLCs.
There are only two people that work on the game (+ a programmer, composer, and animator), and none of them is professional in game development or programming. This is our very first game.

Plot

Roui, a resilient city dandy, a half-educated jeweler, and the author of scientific magic articles, dealt with a colossal failure and had to return to his homeland: Latori. Science isn't a thing here, and local shoddy mystical beliefs are really irritating to Roui. He dreams of returning to his old life... But how can it be possible if you have no money?
One day, a prosperous local baron commissioned him for a bracelet, a gift for his lovely bride. Roui, in need of the extra coin, graciously accepted the order... But not long afterward, he faced a new problem - the Mad Rook, a legendary and mysterious spirit, began to meddle in the lives of the locals, including Roui's. This spirit, an entity that plays tricks on mortals once a year, is possessed with strange magic and a dark sense of humor.
Despite all the story's strangeness, everyone can find something parallel to their everyday life and see themselves in one of the characters. This story will capture you and won't let you go until the very end. Turn your mind inside out through a twisted way!

Setting

Where is it set?
The setting is a fictional world called Shang-La, a world of mixed cultures and eras and home to various strange creatures. This is a place of old magic and new ideas, where science works together with mysticism. You can find glasses and phones, electricity and radio here, but no guns or television. The inhabitants of this world still fight with swords. The continent they live in is surrounded by the boundless ocean. The Sun and the Moon take turns alternating in the sky, and the stars are made of metal and hiding tons of secrets in them.

Who are the Sahash?
Sahash are the second intelligent race in Shang-La, alongside humans. They are divided into five nations, differing from each other by their physicality, shape of their horns, and muzzles. Every nation has its own unique traditions and culture: ranging from habits, religion, law, and even tastes in fashion and food.
Despite the complicated relationships between these ethnic groups of Sahash, as a whole, they get along with humankind and even try to emulate them in spite of their more animalistic nature.

The Crown of Leaves is one of the prettiest games I've played in a while. It's the first point and click game I had in a long while (maybe ever since the Scooby-Doo flash game) and I'm glad I had given the demo and the full game a chance! I absolutely fell in love with the songs, themes and, what hooked me into the game in the first place, the astounding artstyle it has. It has a very distinctive look and every background could bring a tear to the eye. I absolutely love the work Lingrimm has done to this game and how every place in it makes you feel a certain way. I also like how characters are down to earth and memorable, though it's a shame that some of them don't get as much screentime as the others like Fel and Alain, really hoping they return in a future chapter. Speaking of which, the world building has got to be one of the strongest points the game has, the connection between surreal and real is also really well done. I'm very excited to see how the story will unfold in the future and I definitely can't wait for when the third chapter comes out, I do recommend also giving the game a go, it's very worth it.

TUFF MANGO PEAK GEM ALERT 🥭💎🏔️🚨! First time i played a furry game that is none-slop and clean. The story the characters and the writing are all peak, the world is nice too it really got me hooked What i loved the most is the art style the whole artistic direction and the character designs they are super strong and tuff. This game is a real hidden gem. way better than the usual furry slop games like adastra the smoke room remember the flowers the echo games and changed. those ones have no real game no good characters no design and even the fans are weirdos. Most of them are like bara stuff with corner fans only The crown of leaves actually has soul and it feels made with care. if you like furry stuff with good vibes and nice visuals give it a shot you wont regret it Solid mango 🥭💯

Saashada shantimo! This is a wonderful game, respectful the roots that helped made it. Having actual Romanian on the team. The myths, the lore, the mystery, the intrigue. You will be pulled into a wonderful world of Shang-La! Perhaps even get lost, worry not, your Shang and La will remain ^^ I think ^^;;. Actual review: I can't wait for chapter 3 and more to come out! So! I had to know if the creators cared and respected and to not disrespect the origins and inspirations of the carefully crafted world in The Crown of Leaves, turns out, you can just ask them! Yes they will replay, imagen that! The answer is yes. This game takes careful consideration to not to offend and respects. The main character slowly starts to understand their culture, traditions and origins, learning and respecting the people and world around him after moving back in to their place of origin. There's an active community of players who enjoy this game, setting and world outside the game if you look for them. The game is being worked on, LinGrimm gives updates through various platforms. This small team of creators are always busy and have lives, I can't speak for them but I can say from wh…
