The Dark Mind

This title is an anomaly-spotting game, though it lacks an overarching narrative to link the experience together. Instead of following a story, you simply select one of three available stages, arranged by difficulty, and dive straight into the core gameplay loop typical of the genre. If you’ve played an anomaly game before, the mechanics will feel instantly familiar. You begin in a environment filled with various objects, all of which you need to observe carefully and memorize. After leaving the room and entering a corridor, you start a new “loop,” returning to the same location. This time, your goal is to identify any differences from your initial visit. Something may have disappeared, shifted position, or altered in some other subtle way. If you detect an anomaly, you must retrace your steps and walk under the red exit sign. If everything appears unchanged, proceed forward under the green sign. What sets this game apart from others in the genre is its intense atmosphere. Whereas most anomaly games rely on subtle tension and quiet unease, this one plunges you directly into a full horror experience. I've played several games in the genre: while this has promise (even with the meager existing content), it's currently more annoying than enjoyable. I don't need to be reminded of the rules at the beginning of every round. I don't need the round announcement to *almost completely* obstruct my view. The cut-scene after a successful exit is unnecessary: it should be possible to smoothly transition to the next round. And the repetitive animation for the failure scenario quickly makes the entire experience tiring. I'm not sure I can say enough bad things about the jump-scares: consider removing them entirely and re-implementing after some play-testing. They hijack your controls and leave you disoriented: they're far more annoying/confusing than scary -- and I scare easily. And the heartbeat effect that follows is just a lingering reminder: at this point, I'd recommend you play without audio. And, last note: if ESC opens the menu, it should also close the menu. I'm going to add this to my update watch list and look forward to updating my recommendation! Best of luck.

You have to remember how things are for the very first room. It also feels very lopsided, with far more anomalous changes than rooms with no change. I often just ran right back into the red room because it felt like it was always the red room. Anyway, you can probably finish the game in about 15-20 minutes if you're really good at remembering stuff. Some jump scares, but overall the game isn't scary at all.

Sorry but I will say NO. This game is quite boring compared to other games of the same genre.

I really enjoyed this game. I don’t think it’s worth full price, I’d only recommend it on sale. It feels more like a demo or a proof of concept. But there’s plenty of jumpscares that really got my heart racing, a very tense and creepy atmosphere, and it’s clear how to proceed in the game which I always appreciate in an anomaly spotting game. Honestly. For less than $5 I think it wasn't bad at all. Some recommendations Add a bundle of maps "per" difficulty. And also be a bit more complex with the changes. Broaden more on items in the map, rotate vertical/horizontal more items. Add more subtle changes to maybe the pictures and etc. And make it possibly to be killed by the horror entities while exploring, and not just from choosing the wrong exit. That'd definitely spice it up a bit more. But I do recommend anyone to buy and try out the game!
