About The prisoner of the Night
Nartide is a sweet girl who lived with her parents in a big house until, ignoring her mother's advice, slept without a blanket's protection; that night, the cold wind of the night, called Cruviana, comes in through the window and takes little Nartide as her prisoner.
Stuck in an eternal night, Nartide must find the light of her life, and then find her way home.
Prepare to guide little Nartide through 159 insane and frightening stages, filled with horrific monsters and traps that, at every step, can lead you to a terribly painful death!
* Side-view platforming game with puzzles;
* 159 stages with visuals ranging from dream to nightmare;
* Amazing creatures;
* 12 special clothes that give useful skills to Nartide;
* The charming soundtrack by Graciele Callado and Walter Yanko, with special guest Naldinho Braga and his song BOA NOITE (from the album "Naldinho Braga e o carro de lata - Girando mundos");
* An adaptation of the short story "A prisioneira da noite" by Lima Arrais;
* Features elements of folk Brazilian culture.

A prisioneira da Noite is a good foundation for indie game, but that’s all it currently is. A foundation. It pains me to write that, that the current state of the game is not there yet and does not really justify the very high price point, unless buyer of course enjoys supporting up and coming developers. The game tells a story about a young girl, Nartide, who must conquer hundreds of stages in this 2.5d platformer. She is helped with her special clothes that change the game mechanics. For example, princess dress allows you to levitate (think Princess Peach in Smash Bros.). The game runs on practically anything, with the resolution capping at 768p. Game allows the player to set the screen to either windowed or fullscreen with different presets for the graphics. As I tested the English translation of the game, I noticed that the settings part had glitches where it overlaid Portuguese and English texts on top of each other, but I believe I chose highest settings with “fantastico”. Speaking of the graphics, they look great considering the style and truly evoke a nostalgic feeling with their n64-esque style. This is a low-poly-game and it shows, but the assets seem to have been craf…14 found this helpful
The tags of "The Prisoner of the Night" are actually some of the most accurate I have seen in steam. It's a difficult puzzle-precision platformer indeed! You will die a lot and don't be tricked by the art.. It's cute but very dark, just like the game is. I have to admit, at first, I didn't liked it much, as I kept dying over and over on the initial jump. It takes a lot of getting used to and skill to perform those jumps in the game and later on to pick the right strategy. The jump might not be intentional though, as something is off about it. Regardless of that it is consistent.. But it will cause you to die and restart a lot. Thankfully the death animations are great and they will make you want to keep going forward and see more of what this game has to offer. The dress mechanic is very charming and the music fits the theme of the art well, although it is small and eventually repetitive. But it is not boring! The voice of the narrator is, also, very distinct and sounds exactly like you would expect, making it fit the story like a glove. Overall the game is good and I do recommend it, but try to get it on a sale, mainly because of the jump, it needs to be improved. For more rev…5 found this helpful
I haven't finished the game yet, but I don't know how long it is so I'll give a quick untidy review now (I think I must be halfway through) -The theme is very charming. The closest thing I could compare it to is a brazilian version of Little Nemo. But beware of the childish look. The game is rather gory so I wouldn't actually recomend it for children. The story and ambiance are very poetic. But I have a little problem with the music that is simplistic and repetitive. I discovered there's a nice song in the credits but the devs didn't use it in the rest of the game. They should have used some royalty free music to complement the rest of the music that seems to be original production. -The gameplay is a skill based platformer where you can change constumes to gain new abilities. It's very reminiscent of 'Castle of Illusion' for the SEGA Megadrive, but I found it better than the Castle of Illusion remake that is available here on Steam. -The game is rather difficult and long and will require some involvment if you want to see the end. You'll restart some levels A LOT. -As most Unity games out there, it's unoptimized and runs slow on default. But the devs were not lazy and included e…3 found this helpful
Certainly an interesting experience, feels almost like something I would've found on the Xbox or PS2, has a nice surrealist art style, solid level design, and although the platforming has a few issues it usually feels tightly controlled. If you like the demo, the full title is absolutely packed with content, definitely worth the asking price. I wouldn't play this with a controller though, the control scheme is absolutely foul for controllers. 8/103 found this helpful

It's not worth the price. I am sure the people who made it worked hard, but I can't recommend you spend your hard earned dollars here.
