If you're a fan of the movie, give it a try. The game itself is painfully average at best, as for an early 2000s game, but it has some interesting ideas such as fear and trust mechanics for the NPC. (Although it's half-baked and doesn't work properly most of the time.) It took me around 8 hours to finish it and doesn't really have any replay value, but I'd say it was an enjoyable experience overall nonetheless.2 found this helpful
A taste of nostalgia. Didn't play the full game when it first came out. Played it now. It was a fun 10 hours but what is worth the money and commendation is the effort Nightdive put into remastering the game1 found this helpful
MacReady is alive AND helps kill the boss. 5/5 Nips1 found this helpful
Oh man, this one is interesting. I have so much mixed feelings about this game, but I still consider it one of the best movie tie in games (not a huge bar to cross, I know) but still, underrated gem with BUNCH of flaws, and it's in my personal top 10 niche games ever! My first encounter with this game was back in 2002/2003, when it first originally came out. I remember like it was yesterday, I went to local CD shop, saw the interesting cover and went on to buy it. Fun personal fact: I actually never couldn't complete this game because when you kill the last boss and cutscene is supposed to play, my game would just crash (probably because it was pirated and there was missing cutscene file lol). So when this remaster was announced, I was feeling excited and nostalgic, and a little surprised to be honest. This game is considered abandonware, and I was thinking that me and like 15 random folks only remember it to this day, so it was nice that it came back from the dead, because it deserves it. I won't go on much about the remaster, because as always, Nightdive did a fantastic job with visuals and QOL additions. I'll talk about the game in general, the core issues that still rema…1 found this helpful
This is a very 2002 game in that it is quite janky but also pretty charming. Lots of half-baked mechanics here but overall, I had a lot of fun with this one. Something about it is nostalgic for me despite never playing the original as a kid. The remaster is pretty good as well! Overall worth a playthrough even if the idea of a sequel to the movie in the form of a video game doesn't sound like your cup of tea
The Thing: Remastered is canon & the sequel to Mr. John Carpenter's The Thing film which is a remake of a great classic from the black & white era of television and movies. Treat yourself to some nostalgia!
