The Trials 2

A *very* cool puzzle game by a solo dev, different but in the vein of The Witness (without the lines). Beautiful to look at, free to wander, puzzles scattered around. You can see a bit of Talos Principle with the force-field doors, pressure platforms, cubes (hexahedrons), a devious inverse recorder - there's all kinds of influences and homages to great games here while being unique to itself. Very fun to play and HUGE. It's the best solo project I've ever seen and the author is actively tweaking it according to player requests in Discussion threads - sometimes one man teams are better! It's a bargain even at full price, don't hesitate if you like puzzlers.

A lot of puzzles packed into one big, beautiful open world. The difficulty is a bit low, but because of the big variety of kinds of puzzles and mechanics I had a lot of fun playing. For that price it's a steal.

[h2]Hidden puzzle gem series[/h2] The first Trials had its slight problems, which are fixed in the second one and turned into one of the best hidden gem puzzle games I've played. Graphics have turned up to the next level as the island is even more pretty and beautiful to wander through. The new map with teleporting options and gemstone markers for the more hidden ones is a really nice addition for quick and easy information. I really enjoyed the more linear progression through the island with the use of the new tangam pieces you have to collect and put together to open the next big section. Of course there are some new puzzle mechanics, but also returning ones from the previous entry. Eventhough not as difficult as the first one, I feel like the second one strikes a better balance between teaching mechanics, exploring the island, collecting gemstones and putting the different mechanics to the limit. It never felt too hard or impossible, but there are still some very clever designs with logical solutions that feel satisfying to solve. Overall for less than a meal at a restaurant, getting and playing both Trials was an absolute blast and is very enjoyable for every firs…

Recommended for hardcore puzzle game fans.

Fab game, similar to The Talos Principle without the story. The kind you could play in short bursts, one puzzle at a time, but inevitably end up playing for ages when you get hooked and want to play just one more. Nice environments to walk about. I played The Trials 1 a couple of years ago and moved on when i got stuck and something else came out but found out about the Trials 2 by accident and got hooked pretty quickly. Some puzzles are quite simple but some I got stuck on and had to seek a hint. Now back to complete the Trials 1.

It's great. Really pretty visuals. Easy-Medium range puzzles. Really great second screen/podcast game.
