Tiny Thor

I wanted to like this as I enjoy a good 2d platformer that's challenging, and even the game itself tells you it's designed this way. But a lot of the level design feels frustrating instead of challenging. Spikes are everywhere and hard to see at first. Then having to get used to shooting boxes across an area, to bouncy boxes over spikes, and a lot of time jumping to death because the camera doesn't show enough of the play area. I like the pixel art. I like the soundtrack. Character controls good. But this is way too frustrating for me. Made it to level 7 and I'm done. The assists are a nice addition but unfortunately they don't offer anything that gives a few extra hit points besides God mode.

Has the look and does some things right, but has too many problems to recommend. The game looks good, is pretty long with a lot of levels, and has mostly good boss fights, as well as inventive use of hammer throwing. Then theres the issues. The hitboxes can be wonky. The platforming is wayyyyyyyy too finicky and unpolished to require what they ask. The wall jump is top 3 worst ive ever seen. Sometimes you get stuck on corner end of wall and can't jump, you can't do jumps up the wall only off. If you press jump on the wall it does nothing, you have to pull stuck away from the wall at the same time, and when jumping between things you have to keep pulling it opposite way, which is annoying but when you then need to wall jump and dash AND throw the hammer its just too poorly designed. Wall jumps don't reset jumps or dodges which is a massive mistake, but slams do.......WTF? The dash and jump mechanics make no sense. If you dash first you can jump then dash then jump again, giving you two dashes, but if you jump dash, jump you don't get a second dash for no reason?! Half the time in the heat of things you don't know if you have another jump or another dash and this leads to dying. …

At first I thought the game was alright. The more I played the more frustrated I got. This game is close to being pretty good but falls short. I like hard platformers, Super Meat Boy, Silksong, Celeste. Those feel good to play. This game feels off to me. Something just isn’t right with the controls and movement. The wall jump seems weird. I really don’t like the bosses. Some are okay and others are a chore. You can only get hit two times. You have a heart that bounces around for a few seconds and you can get it for another hit. Good luck getting it in a boss with the way it bounces. The good part about this game are the puzzles. If the game focused a lot more on the puzzle side and less on platforming and fights I think the game would be a lot better. I want to like the game but it just doesn’t feel good to play. There is a good bit of waiting for moving platforms or water cycles that really slows the game down. The last 7-8 levels really suck. They are so stupid long. At least the music is pretty good.

Tiny Thor is a spectacular precision platformer that starts off pretty slow and easy, just to punch you [strike]Asylum[/strike] SQUARE in the face. The story starts, and it's Thor's birthday, a party is being prepped, but Thor gets bamboozled (you can imagine by whom), and now he has to save the world from Ragnarök. A simple premise that stays simple throughout the whole game, but the story is not why you're here. You're here for the gameplay, and Tiny Thor is one of the best indie platformers I have ever played. Fluid, fast, creative, and intense gameplay steals the show. Mjölnir is his birthday gift, so you already know it will be fun. Mjölnir has free aim when using it, so you can break stuff, collect gems, solve puzzles, and kill enemies with it. The game has several mechanics sprinkled here and there, so the game never feels boring or annoying. Thor also has several new upgrades to get through the experience that will make the whole thing feel even more polished and intense. The puzzles are very creative too, using enemies and physics objects that fit well with the theme of the levels. They use the screen borders as a mechanic for some of Mjölnir's puzzles, and it was very …

Excellent Game with Tight controls. If your a fan of games like Celeste for its difficulty you should be at home here.

Very enjoyable pixelart beauty of a game, especially on my Legion Go 2 handheld. Great pixel art, music, level design and game mechanics, very creative and satisfying.
