Treasure Adventure Game

Absolutely spectacular game. And it's FREE!!! What starts off as seemingly simple 2D platformer gets more and more complex as you progress. Stellar variety in environments and gameplay, game keeps introducing more and more mechanics as you play which makes you revisit the whole open world again and again and again, and each time you will find tons of new stuff. The open world is brilliant, you go to east or west and at some point you get to the other side of the world, it's like a real whole planet. The game does not hold your hand for the most part. The problem is once you get to the freedom the hint bird becomes absolutely useless, but for the positive, while there are some limitations and order by which you have to do some stuff, but you can usually choose from numerous stuff to do and in your own order, so the freedom aspect in the game is great. The difficulty can be brutal in this game, there are maybe 6 or so massive difficulty spikes in the game where I kept thinking why is this game so hard, so be prepared, it's not a game if you expect something unchallenging; it is often a relaxing game, but definitely not an easy one. Very good game-I like that it’s just calm. It really helps you take your mind off things with its nice music and pretty laid back gameplay, yet it’s not boring.

A freeware classic. Easily recommended to anyone who loves the classic era of gaming!

Tried to play this, and either the game will not launch on my laptop, or the screen is completely black on my desktop. It's a free game, and feels wrong to complain, but I can't recommend it.

I [i]loved[/i] this game! It took me about 23 hours* to finish, and while I did end up having to look up a guide a few times near the end, I was able to get through the vast majority of it through blind exploration. When I did check the guide, I was surprised to find that I had done things [i]very[/i] out-of-order. That's what makes Metroidvanias fun, eh? The Steam listing says that the game doesn't support controllers, but thankfully it actually does. I recommend a controller that lets you swap the D-pad and left analog stick. Some of the platforming sections are harder than they should be due to too-small hitboxes, but that's pretty much the only real criticism I can come up with. Also, while the game is mostly light-hearted, there are some dark and gory bits near the end. Let's just say Roelof and Lugus come to an ignoble end, and they're not the only ones. Sadly it looks like all the official websites are gone, so finding more info from the developers is difficult.
