About TRON: Catalyst

TRON: Catalyst pulls you back into the world of Disney’s TRON with an original new story. Explore stunning and diverse environments across the Arq Grid as you discover the rich backstory of this crumbling society. Interact with flawed, yet fascinating characters, face off against rival factions, ride Light Cycles, and keep one step ahead of the ruthless ‘peacekeepers’ as you unlock the mysteries of this Grid and learn what kind of hero it needs you to become. Try to survive as you’re relentlessly pursued by Conn, a malevolent program with an agenda of his own, and learn the truth about the glitches that threaten the stability of this world.

Immersive New Story

Lose yourself in an original TRON storyline. Meet the programs of the Arq Grid, uncover their secrets, and fight to survive in a chase across the city and outlands. Playing as Exo, a courier working in this Grid’s capital city, your life is turned upside down when a mysterious package explodes, granting you powers beyond any program’s normal function.

Authentic TRON Setting

Walk the neon-lit streets of the Arq Grid, or travel by Light Cycle, and discover a diverse Grid filled with intriguing stories revolving around a budding revolution. Enjoy an atmospheric electronic soundtrack by composer Dan Le Sac, returning from TRON: Identity, as you explore this unique Grid to recruit powerful allies, forge meaningful alliances and prepare to face the coming storm!

Exploit the Glitch

The Arq Grid is losing stability and chaos is gripping the server. Glitches roll back the clock, catching the world in a series of system-level time loops that only you can see. Use Exo’s unique ability to restart a loop with retained knowledge, unlock time-saving shortcuts, and influence the factions jostling for control over the Grid.

Dynamic Combat System

Fight for the Grid! Battle a legion of fearsome enemy programs in melee and ranged combat, both on-foot and while riding Light Cycles. Master advanced techniques like parrying and Disc kicks to gain the upper hand, while exploring the Arq Grid and collecting Data Shards to upgrade your code base and grow stronger.

If you’re a fan of the franchise, it’s a mediocre 5/10 experience. If you don’t care about Tron, skip the game entirely. The story and voice-acting is serviceable, but don’t except any satisfying outcomes to the plot. The hook is interesting, the starting ideas are nicely laid down, but it goes nowhere in the end. Gameplay wise - ultra basic combat, rudimentary exploration, bare-bones RPG mechanics. Parry/Riposte button will carry you through 90% of combat encounters without any effort. There’s no actual puzzles or challenging platforming. Tron 2.0 remains the best game in the franchise and I wholeheartedly recommend checking out that classic. Catalyst is just a shell of a game. Quick fix, if you’re a fan, but it leaves you hollow and numb.

No one in the original Tron was black. You've made the Black Little Mermaid of Tron. The character isn't black for any reason but to be black and that's because you are a terrible writer. Unless you made her black because broke-ass courier programs are black - in which case, you are literally racist. Sci-Fi is about white dudes kicking ass and getting space-chics. If you remember the HUGELY SUCCESSFUL Tron movie, the white dude got the space-chic. Your lame-ass game has some loser delivering packages and fetch quests. Yawn. You had no clue in your cultural appropriation and that's why this game is a loser. The are was fine. The programming was ok. There was enough here to be interesting - too bad you all wasted your time on a game no one wants to play because it was written by a DEI-droid. Hope you had fun doing nothing at all. Put "Tron" on your resume. Blame the reviews and "racism", and enjoy a job well-"mixed" on steam. It's a franchise - it already worked - all you had to do was not screw it up. You failed.

The perfect Tron game, you can do everything from Tron legacy, fight with your disc, fight with your light cycle, even in the air for some of the story, and what was great was when you were able to go in the games with the light cycle that was hype. You even get to collect bits at one point and they have a permanence code reference. It has some great music as well, no match for daft punk but still very good.

There is some yank, but it's a perfectly enjoyable game. For a Tron fan like myself, it's heartily recommended. But I think anyone can appreciate the unique look and feel of the setting.

As far as games go, no it's not a masterpiece. For a smaller dev company, I think they did a great job though! The visuals and soundtrack are really good for starters. It's not based in the same grid as other games/stories in the Tron franchise, with the exception of their previous game which was a visual novel. Personally, I would recommend both games, and would love to see them maybe partner with another game studio for something more... first person focused? tldr: good story focused rpg, interesting concept and gameplay loop. combat is satisfying, but not incredibly difficult. Seems to get a lot of negative attention from r*cist individuals and who have a very binary view on things. I would just ignore those people and give it a go. I found it a rather refreshing experience personally.

I enjoyed the game. It was short and sweet. It was fun to explore the different districts of the city and interact with different factions. The combat is simple, but enjoyable. The story and dialogue is a little weird to start but as you get more involved with the time loop mechanic, it gets more interesting. Definitely worth if you are a Tron fan or if it's on sale.
