I really love this game, even if it isn't perfect. First of all, the sprite work is top notch. It looks great and has so much charm. The enemies and characters are so expressive and they all make funny little sounds and have creative attacks. While there isn't much, a lot of the games music is pretty great especially since its dynamic. I love this games combat, even if it is a little simple. Its super fun and engaging and I really love the twist on the turned base genre which I have a fondness for, but I personally wish it had more depth. The level design wasn't really that great to be honest. The forest world was definetly a good introduction to the game but then after came the snowy world which I didn't really like at all. Every area outside the mansion felt like just a straight line filled with stupid tree parkour. The mansion was also a pain to explore filled with dark mazes that had time limits. After that the jungle and factory worlds are better even if they both have their pains. The worlds in this game like to use a lot of backtracking and mazes in the design to extend their playtime which im not really a fan of. a lot of rooms also sort of look the same contributing to get…

Overall a very lovely game. One of the best indie games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It scratches the paper mario itch 10x better than bug fables, and is criminally under-rated. (Haven't played escape from ever after yet) The music is lovely. Admittedly, the chill and the ambient tracks are much better than the bright and peppy ones. The grassland area theme is a bit overbearing and dull, and the jungle theme isn't my favorite. But overall the music is absolutely wonderful. Characters are great. Stitches is an amazing and funny villain. Sword companion I understand people finding annoying at first, but its necessary for them to have character growth. Don't let negative reviews deceive you, if you have any modicum of patience you definitely come around to them by the end of the game. Also [spoiler] the funny butterfly is good. Neat, and a bit goofy. Other players warn that the game is a bit rough around the edges and that's true. The air controls feel lacking but this game was a positive experience all around. I hate managing my stamina though.

I don't know where I got this but looking through my library it seemed like a basic platformer so I gave it a shot. On first load the menu did not appear and the screen scaling seemed to be off. Upon restart I was able to start the game. There is an endless amount of cutscene yapping at the start of the game, I pressed 'A' hundreds of times. After the intro you're in a hub area that has tons more optional yapping and some mandatory yapping where you have to get your employee punchcard to escape. Then there's finally gameplay and it turns out it's turn based combat filtered through a very very slow rhythm game - the worst possible combination of gameplay elements I can imagine. I tried to wade through it but I just couldn't take it. I alt+F4'd out of the game and joined the 25% of players who did not get the achievement for killing the first enemy. It is absolutely cuh-razy to me that games are allowed to have a 'Very Positive' rating on steam when 1 in 4 people [i]quit the game[/i] the instant they are exposed to gameplay.

A solid game with a fun twist on the typical hero formula. Full disclosure - the hour count is a bit inflated from leaving it running, so I didn't get as far as the numbers suggest. But what I played was enjoyable and well-made. Worth checking out if the premise catches your eye.
