About Until We Die

✦ AI summary

Defend your subway station base from escalating waves of mutant creatures spawned by meteorites while personally commanding reluctant soldiers through 30 grueling days of survival. Balance frantic real-time combat as hero Ivan with base management—fortifications, tech research, expeditions, and resource gathering—where you must constantly push your lazy troops to action since they won't lift a finger on their own.

Until We Die is a base defense strategy game. Your base is the subway station, it's underground part. You'll have to defend it against all sorts of things, brought in by meteorites.

To win, you have to survive for about 30 game days, fending off all the attacks on the base. At first, it'll be small packs of creatures, and by the end, you'll have to fight a sweeping horde of mutants. Also, the game will end early if our hero, Ivan, dies or if the power generator, the heart of the base, is destroyed.

Until We Die is not a conventional strategy game. Here you have to run around as Ivan and dispense ass-kicking valuable orders to your subjects. There's no advanced AI. Humans are reluctant to take the initiative, and those lazy bastards don't want to do anything on their own.

And there's a lot to do: building fortifications, researching technology to build even stronger fortifications and defend more effectively, sending expeditions to the surface, attacking mutant lairs to secure new land for farms and tents, gathering supplies from crates, and extracting food from mushrooms and anything else that looks edible... wasn't there a fat rat running down the tracks?

Overall i really enjoyed this game and what it was looking to become. Unfortunatly the game now sits abandoned but i'm honestly rather loathe to use that term as with where the devs were situated (ukraine or russia) and the last news post i can only presume one or more of the dev team has died in the russian ukraine war. If you pick up this game, pick it up elsewhere as it wont go on sale as again (no sales in last 2 years at least); i'm pretty sure the creators are dead and can no longer manage/claim the money for this game. It truely is a sad end to people I never even knew; RIP.

Tragic because it had a lot of potential. I'm not sure as to what the reasoning behind it was but the game was sadly abandoned.

Many people complain that the game is unfinished, but the studio behind it is located in Ukraine, which has made development difficult. Despite that, I loved every minute of this game. Even in its current state, it's still a great experience.

games dead, devs abandoned it along time ago. dont waste your money this will not get updates. last time a dev spoke in discussions was atleast 2 years ago at this point. its not finished nor do i think it ever will be. dodge this bullet. besides that i did enjoy what is out. its frustrating that the devs jsut rug pulled with something that was decent at best without any bug fixes/new updates.

Usually don't, but I'm trusting the reviews on this. I got burned on another unfinished game before (D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die..) and I'm not going to invest my very valuable time on under derveloped games I got on sale so I'm not too bummed. But the little bit of it I played was very promising. Real shame, because I love to support indie. On to the next in my queue... You should too. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
