Story

"Have you heard of the urban legend called the double?"

If you meet someone that looks exactly like you, one of you will be entirely replaced by the other. Your "double" will inherit all of your memories and live your life without anyone else noticing... But the world is so wide—how do you know that you're not actually someone else's double? Are you really... you?

A few years after the events in the first Urban Legend Hunters, the disappearance of a popular internet show host and influencer Chris became a hot topic on the internet. You, an outsider clueless about the incident, meet Rain, Shou, and Tangtang, who claim to be members of Chris' channel, on a messaging app. They suspect that Chris' disappearance has to do with the urban legend of the "double", as well as the Urban Legend Hunters community. They ask you to join in their search for Chris, and the more you investigate and the more clues you gather, the closer you get to seeing the full picture of what really happened...

This game has a really quality immersive story, and while the structure is great, the actual game play can be a bit tedious. It starts off by bringing you into the game by breaking down the fourth wall, which I loved. The rest of the game is primarily played through phone messages, like an internet detective story, but with an interesting twist. The story was unique and well developed. It's a story that will probably stick with me. The aspect I didn't like about the gameplay was that often times you are forced to have the same conversations over and over. Why would I ask the same exact question 4 times? This is suspicious behaviour, I wouldn't do this. It's especially frustrating when you are already 2 steps ahead in the story, but need to repeat the conversation. Most times you only have one option to say. It's very hard to see if you're having any influence on the story at all. I also had many times where the story was stuck not advancing, and I needed to open and close all of the chat screens. As is I think it might end up turning players away, but it is genuinely wonderful unique storytelling. I just wish this was streamlined a bit, because the story is 100% worth playi…

This isn't my first "haunted phone/messenger game", but boy is not worth it. After hours of playing nothing spooky has even happened and I literally can not interact with anything or anybody. I know I need scissors, I know where they are, but the game won't let me pick them up.

The game was not what I expected, and not in a good way. I expected some spooky stories, but all I got was teenage drama. The game also doesn’t like it when you do anything out of order from what it expects, and there have been many times where I had to try way too hard just to get it to progress. In the end, I couldn’t even finish it, as somewhere near the very end nothing would happen anymore, even though I had tried to interact with literally everything. It runs on Linux with Proton (9.0-4). Well, it runs until it doesn’t, but the issues don’t seem related to Proton.

No idea what part of this even counts as a "game" because i was not able to "play" anything. The game seems very broken. I started the game, set my name and status and then opened the one chat i was shown. after that i was not able to interact with anything. I could not respond to the text, i would not get new texts and i could switch between the first chat and a second one but other than the profile on the top nothing changed. I have no idea how you are supposed to progress, if there are options that are just bugged out for me or something, idk. But this "game" is not worth your money, it will not run properly.

The game has a few technical glitches. It doesn't support the German date format in Windows, and some chat messages appear out of order. Still, the game is fun, and the puzzles are easy to solve.
