What have you done, Father?

"What have you done, Father?" is a noir thriller mystery with a surprising revelation! It's worth playing the entire story in one sitting (the game is about 3 hours). Confessing your sins has never been more complicated! ^^ The story starts with all the elements of your typical murder-mystery: a phone call, a stunning woman, a man on a righteous path, human desire, rainy night. Yet, as the story unfolds, mystery elements start to mix up and create a hellish atmosphere. Some might even describe it as "demonic".. If only it was so simple.. ^^ Made by a solo dev. It is refreshing to see the use of AI as a tool and not AI as a creator. While you should be able to spot that much of the artwork and assets used are AI influenced, you cannot not recognize that they have been heavily edited. The final result is immersive and fun to watch. I liked the voice acting, dialogues and general music along with the sound effects. Subtle clues are scattered everywhere and yet the final revelation is surprising without being out of the blue! Very good psychological thriller/horror. Story is not entirely original, it implements a narrative mechanism already used in a few novels or movies. However, such narrative mechanism is inserted into a plot where the main protagonist is a priest. This brings out several quite fresh and original narrative aspects mixed with supernatural and demonic elements and "sexual temptations and sins". I enjoyed it so much. The overall direction is very good. I was glued to the screen for 2 and a half hours straight. A few gameplay sequences are really really brilliant. In particular the chest sequence is a masterclass in interactive narrative that should be studied in academies! Kudos to the developer. As every Darkania Works game, the technical side is not exciting, animations leave much to be desired, environments are a bit too static, characters are not very expressive, voice acting is limited to few characters and scenes and so on. Keep in mind that it's the work of a single independent developer. This is definitely his best work, where he daresto explore a very dark plot, high-tension situations, and noir and adult themes. Alfred Hitchcock would appreciate! ;-)

It´s a short dark game. I really liked the twisted idea. The whole way it´s presented is very athmospheric. Sure it may a bit clunky. For example i spent 30 minutes looking for the tea service in the beginning (it´s in your own room). Remember, we´re talking of a one man project here and for this ammount of manpower it really is more than solid. The graphics look really good. Some (obvious) AI use but that doesn´t rally make the narrative worse. As said. I have no problems artists use any tools they can get to make their vision and ideas true. The price is a mixed bag but you just have to decide for yourself if you want to spend 11 Bucks on a 2 hour game. But i have to say, i was entertained so i am okay with it. I came for a dreadful and unsetteling story. And that´s exactly what i got. Chapeau!

Absolutely beautiful graphics with an amazing storyline. Unfortunate that dialogue lines is without voice acting sadly.
