Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant

92 hours. 12,528 kills. This has been a truly epic journey, fitting for a game of this calibre. The story masterfully opens with the foreboding of a huge and hostile open world and the possibilities therein, and does not fail to deliver with its excellent thematically dense story, dynamic quests and character interactions, and lots of sprawling environments and intricate dungeons to explore. Indeed, the star of the show here is the story. The prose is succinct, but generally intricate and flowing, barring occasional grammatical errors, the most egregious of which being David W. Bradley's apparent ignorance regarding the existence of the word 'thou'. There is a real imaginative quality to the scenarios and encounters befitting a great pen-and-paper campaign, and the themes of destiny, purpose, the role of society in the lives of the individual (through the liberal lens of RPG-style free association) echo throughout the adventure. The most standout feature is the presence of many roaming NPCs who go around the map, gathering the MacGuffins you need, killing each other, and spreading information about recent events, motivating the behaviour of other such NPCs. This game is extremely fun for what it is. I did not expect it to be so fun or so goofy. You build your own party of characters and go off on an adventure together. Sadly, it is also an extremely tough game to figure out... And there's very little help online that I could find, so you will spend many hours trying to figure out what to do or where to go at times. Some may enjoy this, others may find it too frustrating and give up, like I did haha. Still, I'd recommend it as it was very enjoyable and I'd like to give it another chance someday.

While still very difficult, Wizardry 7 shines with it's massive party switching options and a great storyline. It is better than Wizardry 6 in so many ways and sets a great stage to move into Wizardry 8. This game really should be played with the automapping mod and several other bug fixing mods to make it more enjoyable. Using a guide is also suggested to save on numerous deaths and literally going around in circles to progress the story. This game is much better for new comers and will reward those who stuck through Wizardry 6.

Deserves a remake and the devs should try to get Wizardry 2-5 on steam it would be epic cool

The finest role playing game of all time. Period.
