About X Rebirth VR Edition
VR Headset Compatibility Information
Our game supports the original Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets via OpenVR. Thanks to OpenVR, it is also likely compatible with several other newer headsets, though these have not been tested. Please note that compatibility with Oculus Quest 2 may be limited due to the removal of the capacitive thumb button on its controllers.
X Rebirth VR Edition is the latest game in the X series and is based on X Rebirth: Home of Light. Every aspect of this game is tailored towards an immersive VR experience.
The X Universe recovers from cataclysmic disaster. Though the future remains uncertain and threats are still aplenty across the Jump Gate Network, people are beginning to find their way. Having recently recovered the Albion Skunk from the hands of pirates, Ren Otani sets about rebuilding his beloved ship, using it in the never-ending search for opportunity and adventure...

Tried to play Quest 3, I see the joypad, but the buttons don't work. Keyboard and mouse support are also poor. Just buy the game to see the first scene and some space, and that's it, there is no way to control the game. Broken game for some reason on steam, don't buy it8 found this helpful
Janky ass VR port with no support. I was hoping it would have some really cool VR space environments and it does. Rebirth is an odd game in the X universe, two steps back and one step forward kinda thing. The one step forward was the sense of travel and movement around celestial bodies. That works wonders in VR and it's the reason I vote recommended here. The game is much smaller then X3/X4 but more focused on "wow" space anomalies which works good since its a VR game. Use a Xbox360 controller, their VR controller controls are terrible on index knuckles. It works on Index and other headsets I've tested. I had to add -openvr_force_proximity to the launch options for it to detect my headset. I can't enter bars or other areas on VR? The doors don't open, but they work in normal Rebirth. Apparently they couldn't get that to work? There's no snap turning and no vignette for nausea reduction. No VR accessibility basically. I'd say this is worth $5-$10, so if you want space VR for that price its worth it. If you don't want to grind to see spacy stuff, get alex cheat menu light, drop it in extensions, turn it on and go galaxy -> reveal galaxy map. Then galaxy -> jump and pi…1 found this helpful
I have purchased X-Rebirth multiple times on different platforms and the result has been the same. The game downloads and installs. The game starts and then...it does not react to any of my controllers' inputs. There are more than 60 VR games in my collection that run without flaw. I'm running this on the following hardware: Windows 11 Pro * Intel Core i9-14900K 3.2 GHz * Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM 128GB (4x32GB) 5600MHz CL40 Intel XMP * Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite X WIFI7 * 4TB Western Digital Black SN850X NVMe (X2) * 2TB Samsung 990 PRO SSD NVMe *Corsair iCUE Link Titan RX RGB * Nvidia RTX 3090 FE * EVGA Supernova 1300 80+ Gold * Corsair Obsidian 750D Air Case * Meta Quest 3 512GB * Logitech X52 Flight Control System. So, what am I doing wrong with X-Rebirth?1 found this helpful
If you dont go in expecting this to be X4 or expect VRs 2 screens to have the same performance of a single screen pc game you'll be fine. Im playing this 10years late and it is still one of the best VR native space games I have played. I like that fact I dont have to just be constantly fighting, I can just cruise around and be a space uber if Im feeling stressed and just want to do something chill. If you have played X4 before this like I have, you maybe a bit disappointed by the fact you can only fly one ship, but even so, there is so much in this universe to do. There are still a couple of bugs, I am not sure if there are mods of fixes out there for it but in De Vries and Omicron Lyrae you can get rocks freaking out in your field of view which should I will add a seizure warning for because it can flash extremely fast. It is immersion breaking. I didnt like how I couldnt explore the stations without a mission, thankfully there is a mod that will open all station doors. Its a shame that when you finally make your way to the bar and hear all the talking it is empty lol. Besides the few issues mention, it is still a great game. If there is a fix from the devs after 10 years for …
With much sadness i have to not recommend, sad because its in fact a very well implemented vr game. - XRebirth without the yisha campaign isn't xrebirth, sorry. - The sense of scale is wonderful, but such a complicated game really prefers to be played in 2d, even though the menu implementation is fantastic. - I got very motion sick from this. The first step of the default campaign start did this, not the best.
Works pretty well on a Quert 3 with an Xbox controller through Virtual Desktop. The dogfights are cool sometimes. The rest of the game is ok, same as the base X Rebirth.
