When was the last time you played a game, any game really, where you walked into someone's home, nonchalantly opened drawers, cabinets, picked locks, upturned a bed and talked to the freaking homeowner in hopes of finding something you could loot? Oh, right before this game? Yeah I thought so. Aside from more humble games like Skyrim, where you had to steal items instead of taking them, every game that has item management lets you play the bad guy without being the bad guy.
Let me tell you something: NPCs hate your guts, they just can't say it to your face! Just cleared a forest of roving bandits? Well they were the only ones keeping a population of meerkats in check. The local farms can't keep them at bay and you've just triggered the worst national food shortage in the past decade. Good job, hero! I think it's time for some payback.
You Are Not The Hero is a 2D Action Platform RPG that ditches the battle system to focus on richer RPG gameplay elements. Instead of playing a traditional hero that saves the world, you're playing a bystander swept into the affairs of heroes and villains alike.
You play as Petula, an unemployed, emotionally charged, ill-tempered, otherwise average young woman. With the royal army hot on their heels, the heroes have made their way to your village where they begin scavenging for supplies in everyone's homes. After you confront them for stealing your pendant, they rush off to continue their quest, giving you a quest of your own to retrieve it.

Nothing new here, but having played through all the content there is to offer years ago in 2018, and regularly checking back, there is still nothing new from this game. A shame really, I loved this game's concept.11 found this helpful
10 years ago I backed this game. The fact that this is still "early access" yet I have never received an update on it is sicking. One of the many reasons I will never kickstart again. I also backed Might no. 9, but at least that one gave a completed game (even though it was piss poor it was done). Which is sad that this one can't even beat that low bar. Games that have been dropped like a lead brick shouldn't be allowed for sale period.3 found this helpful
Good idea with so so execution and absent developer unfortunately mean it'd never reach whatever potential it had. Game from point of view of villager girl A with humour would most likely have been a great thing, but it's wasted here. Gameplay is rough to say the least and would never be improved as it'd remain Early Acess forver =\3 found this helpful
I noticed a change on this game--it no longer says the Dev is missing and not to buy on the banner. Buyers beware for this game is not finished, has plenty of bugs and I'm still shocked it's up for sale--this has been true for nearly a decade. Report if possible. Don't buy.2 found this helpful
2022 and the game is still in early development with not much to show for it. I backed this on kickstarter ages ago... what a waste.2 found this helpful
I ended up buying this game before I realized what the status of it was. It was one of the first games I followed all the way back during my early RPG Maker phase and I even remember playing that original demo that still used the Chibi Sprites and default characters. I don't know what happened to the game's lead developer to put this game on hold for this long, and I hope they're ok. But I still hold out hope that maybe one day this game will see completion, with or without them. Good Luck to the development team if you're still out there, waiting to finish this. I wish you the best.
