About Silent Depth 2: Pacific

✦ AI summary

Silent Depth 2: Pacific is a submarine warfare game where you command a sub to hunt enemy fleets and merchant convoys while evading depth charges and destroyers in tactical cat-and-mouse encounters. It strips away complex manual calculations to focus on accessible arcade-style gameplay featuring intuitive torpedo combat, stealth mechanics, and resource management across dynamic Pacific scenarios.

A Dangerous Game of Cat and Mouse!

You’ve been on patrol for multiple days when you see a fleet on the horizon. Your first instinct is to dive and engage, but it’s a clear day and one of the destroyers has spotted you. Now it’s a fight for survival, a naval game of cat and mouse. Avoid the depth charges whilst you fight back and strike when the enemy is at its most vulnerable, or switch to silent running and lose the enemy in the depths below.

Silent Depth 2: Pacific

Silent Depth 2: Pacific is a sim-lite submarine game, designed for fans looking for an easy-to-learn, arcade-style naval experience without requiring the use of technical manuals or hours of study to manually calculate torpedo launch vectors.

Tailored to fans who fell in love with the original Silent Service series, Silent Depth 2: Pacific is a great choice to ‘get your feet wet’ as we continue to develop new features throughout Early Access.

Much like the highly approachable ‘classic’ submarine games from the past, this game allows you to perform important roles on the ship whilst keeping you focused on maximizing the tonnage you send to the bottom of the ocean. Prepare to scout merchant ships, destroy enemy convoys, launch torpedos, fire your deck guns, and then dive to safety in the deep thermal layers from incoming destroyers.

Key Features:

  • Approachable ‘cat and mouse’ gameplay set in the Pacific Ocean.
  • Encounter and evade a variety of enemy fleets & merchant ships on war patrols.
  • Realistic water simulations for a truly immersive experience.
  • Intuitive torpedo-based combat with auto-calculated firing solutions, keeping the action fast and furious.
  • Day and night cycles, offering different challenges and opportunities.
  • Varied weather conditions can impair visibility, adding an extra layer of complexity.
  • Sink ships whilst carefully monitoring your limited resources to maximize your daily tonnage score.
  • A layered damage system that challenges you to react and survive when different ship systems become temporarily or permanently unavailable.

What We're Working On Next

During this Early Access period, we will be hard at work refining and polishing Silent Depth 2: Pacific to deliver the best possible sim-lite submarine experience. We're focusing on implementing a range of feature and quality-of-life improvements from short-term ‘upcoming’ to longer-term goals prior to going 1.0 Please refer to the Roadmap below and join the Discord to share your feedback, experiences and meet the community.

We suggest you Follow + Wishlist us on Steam so you will be immediately notified of all new updates and important dev logs. Good luck Captain and fair sailing!

✦ AI summary

The game suffers from significant technical problems that prevent many players from even launching it past the menu screen, with developers reportedly offering unhelpful solutions and becoming defensive rather than supportive. Players who do get it running find the gameplay oversimplified compared to the classic Silent Service, lacking depth in mechanics like course plotting and torpedo management, though some appreciate it as a casual submarine sim with nostalgic appeal.

Silent Depth 2 needs much more time in the oven. As of the moment of typing this review the gameplay offerings would be considered at the earliest alpha stage of any game in development. The most rudimentary system of sub gameplay is present but as it is known that this title is in early access. The main draw for this title is its setting in the pacific theater of naval warfare which there is few compelling competing titles to choose amongst from. There has been much time available to polish the lesser features since its release almost 2 years ago but yet is left as a demo. Unfortunate fate of the many interactive software published to this platform.

Wow. When will we have a truly good game regarding the Pacific submarine campaign? The graphics are bargain basement. No history at all.

After 2 years of early access, what a disappointment. - Rotating the camera requires you to hold left-click and drag like it's 1998. - Graphical effects are abyss-tier - Absolutely no tutorial - Sub controls are difficult due to the bare bones available. - Overall feel is tedious and in alpha state. As if they gave up and released it to recoup some money. Why even bother with this game for free? Uboat is a far better experience. Even that somewhat pales in comparison to the Silent Hunter series. Good luck getting any of those games to run on windows 11 DEI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ edition, though. Too bad there aren't any good pacific theatre sub simulations with decent graphics.

the game has great potential but it just does not have enough content to enjoy the game. If it had a campaign or a bigger map it would be well worth the money
